SRINAGAR: A man from Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district was arrested for allegedly killing his brother.

On November 20, Police Station Beerwah in Budgam district received information that the body of a labourer Sameer Ahmad Rather, 18, of Sail Beerwah is lying behind his residence.

Acting swiftly a police party along with FSL teams reached the spot and after all legal formalities, investigation was initiated.

“During investigation, several suspects were called in for questioning including the family members of the deceased. During questioning, Aqib Ahmad Rather, brother of deceased Sameer Ahmad Rather confessed his involvement in the commission of crime,” a police spokesman said.

“Aqib revealed that a confrontation between the brothers took place during the intervening night of November 19 and 20, resulting in Sameer's death.
Father and sister of the deceased also admitted his involvement by providing details about Aqib Ahmad's role,” he added.

He was arrested and a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to the recovery of essential evidence including the weapon of offence used by Aqib to assault his brother Sameer.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation is in progress, police added. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: A younger has killed his elder brother over some land dispute in Doda district of Jammu division on Saturday.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a younger brother identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Nazir Ahmad attacked his elder brother Ishtiyaq Ahmad over some land dispute.

"In the incident, Ishtiyaq received injuries and he was shifted to SDH Gundwah from where he was referred to GMC Doda where he succumbed to injuries," he added.

He added that Ishtiyaq was working as teacher while Imtiyaz is Special Police Officer of J&K Police.

Meanwhile, Police have taken cognizance of the incident and two persons have been already arrested in this regard while further investigation has been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: One person died and his brother was injured in a mysterious blast in Kishtwar district, officials said.   

“Initial reports revealed that a suspicious blast occurred in the kitchen of the house of one Mohammad Abass Naik in Symbol village,” SSP Kishtwar said. In the blast one person died and one was injured. “Reportedly both brothers had gone to the jungle for collection of Morchella(Guchhi) they found one abandoned rod like rusted object which they brought to home and in the kitchen while heating it blast occurred,” the officer said.  Police have started investigations to unravel the truth, the officer said.  Meanwhile, sources told GNS that the injured man has been shifted to hospital.
