SRINAGAR: A tourist from Kolkata, aged 33, passed away due to a heart attack at a resort in Pahalgam, located in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district

Bhaskar Senmunshi, a 33-year-old tourist, son of Bhanu Senmunshi from Kolkata, suffered a severe heart attack while visiting Pahalgam.

He was swiftly transported to PHC Pahalgam, where medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival.

A police official stated that a case has been filed regarding the incident, and additional investigations are currently in progress. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo Tuesday held in depth review of the Public Works Department (PWD) and the different schemes of infrastructure building under implementation herein the UT.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, PWD Engineer-in-Chief; Director Finance, R&B besides other concerned.

During this meeting Dulloo observed that the road infrastructure is vital for overall development of any area. He impressed upon the Department to prioritize few Roads going to newly found tourist destinations in each division for upgradationin order to develop these destinations for better experience of the visitors going there.

He also maintained that the maintenance of road surface should also be monitored by the Department for the quality of roads define the overall development of any area. He asked for providing fairweather roads to each such habitation which are still unconnected here in J&K.

The Chief Secretary further observed that the density of National Highways in the UT has substantially increased yet there is scope to enhance it further to be at par with other Himalayan states around us. He also asked for furthering the efforts for completing different road projects on time.

In his presentation, the Principal Secretary, PWD, Shailendra Kumar gave an overview of all the major projects and works under execution through the Department. He gave the physical progress made on each project taken up under PMDP, CRIF, PMGSY, NABARD and other UT sector schemes with the estimated date of completion for each of them.

The Principal Secretary informed the meeting that the Department has taken several reforms which had ensured timely and quality execution of works in the UT. He gave out that the UT is first in the country that has ensured preparation of online Measurement Books for each work.

He further gave out that the out of total Road length of 41927 Kms, 36433 are blacktopped, 3012 are metalled, 2457 are fair weather roads. He said that the Department is making strenuous efforts to upgrade whole length of roads as blacktopped in a phased manner.

Moreover it was revealed that from April 2020-March 2023 7826 projects have been completed besides blacktopping 17247 Kms at an expenditure of Rs 18716.94 Cr. It was given out that the cumulative expenditure per month made during this three year period is Rs 519 Cr/month than Rs 319 Cr/month in the earlier 3 year period from April 2017-March 2020.

The major projects which came under review includes Semi Ring Road Jammu, Semi Ring Road Srinagar, Udhampur-Ramban Section of NH 44, Ramban-Banihal Section of NH 44, Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch road, Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellani-Chatroo-Khanabal road, Srinagar-Shopian-Qazigund road, Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri Road, Z-Morh tunnel, Zojilla tunnel, Delhi Katra Amritsar Expressway besides roads and bridges taken up under CRIF, PMGSY and other schemes.

Later on the Chief Secretary also took stock of the snow clearance preparations made by the Department. He enquired about the machinery and equipmentsin place for timely opening of roads for public use. He stressed on clearance of all the roads with least hindrance to movement of people and essentials in all the snow bound areas.

The Chief Secretary was apprised that different road lengthshas been assigned to different agencies for snow clearance including SMC, JMC, R&B, NHIDCL, BRO etc and their machinery and equipment has also been earmarked along with the allied staff for spontaneous movement in time of snow. (GNS)

 Pampore, Oct 09 (KS) : In a tragic incident, a female tourist from Thailand passed away at a wedding ceremony in Pampore area of South Kashmir.

Sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll, the foreign tourist, identified as Saranjai Trimas, daughter of Late Thaunun from Thailand, reportedly became unconscious during the marriage. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, the doctors declared her deceased upon arrival.

The sources attribute the cause of her death to a heart attack. Sources further said that she had been invited to the wedding by a prominent businessman.

A police official told Kashmir Scroll that a case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A tourist from Gujarat died of a suspected heart attack at at Hotel Regal palace at residence road in summer capital Srinagar district on Wednesday.

A police official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a tourist identified as Ashok Ranawat (35) resident of Gujrat felt some health issues and was taken to hospital for treatment.

However, doctors after examining Ashok found him dead The body of the deceased has sent for postmortem and further proceedings have been taken up , the official added. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A tourist died after slipping into a river at Butapathri in famous ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, officials said.

They told GNS that one Shalo Anand (46) wife of Sandeep Anand was with her family when she slipped into the river. 

The female was immediately rescued and taken to a nearby health facility, where she was however declared as brought dead on arrival, they said.

Confirming it, a police official told GNS that the tourist had head injuries which she suffered on slipping into the river. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A tourist died after he came under a pine tree while riding a horse in  Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district this afternoon, officials said.

They said that a tourist identified as Janartham (67) son of Govintha Rajalu, a resident of Tamil Nadu was riding a horse when he came under a falling pine tree near Baisaran, resulting in his instant death. 

The body of the deceased tourist was evacuated from the site and lies in a mortuary at PHC Pahalgam, they said. 

A police official has also confirmed to GNS about the death of the tourist in the particular incident. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday rescued a tourist family after they reportedly lost their way in Kongdori area in Gulmarg of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 

“Baramulla Police today rescued a tourist family comprising of 3 adults & 4 kids of Telangana who arrived in Gulmarg and went for Gondola ride to Kongdori Gulmarg, while on return to Gondola Phase 2nd they lost their way to and got stuck in Kongdori area”, said a police spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS.

“Acting upon this, police rescue teams of PS Gulmarg led by SHO PS Gulmarg Insp Irshad with the assistance of ATVs and Pony Walas were formed who followed around the Kongdori area and finally reached at the location of the tourist family and rescued them from the area and brought them back to Gulmarg safely”, reads the statement.

The tourist family, as per the statement, expressed their gratitude towards Baramulla Police for timely help. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A tourist from Gujarat died at famous tourist resort Gulmarg in North Kashmir Baramulla district on Wednesday officials said.

They told news agency, Kashmir Scroll that a tourist namely Patel Husmukh (50) from Gujarat fell unconscious at Gulmarg on Wednesday. They was shifted to PHC Gulmarg, where doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile further proceedings in this regard have been initiated. (KS)

SRINAGAR: An elderly tourist from Gujarat died in Srinagar on Thursday late night officials said. An official said that an elderly domestic tourist namely Mansuri Mohammad Hanief (63) son of Ghulam Rasool Hanief resident of Gujrat was staying at Hotel Curious Group of all seasons Barbarshah Srinagar fell ill and was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment, where he expired.

After completion of medico legal formalities, the dead body was handed over to his NOKs for last rites, he said. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A tourist from Mumbai suddenly fell unconscious and died in resort Sonamrag area of Central Kashmir Ganderbal district on Tuesday officials said. They told Kashmir Scroll said that one tourist namely Deepak Shah son of Manhar Shah resident of Grant Road Mumbai suddenly fell unconscious. He was taken to hospital by his relatives for treatment to PHC Sonamrag but doctors declared him brought dead. They said. Meanwhile medico-legal formalities are being conducted and further proceedings have been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Body of a Nepali labourer was retrieved from Nallah Sindh in Kangan area of central-Kashmir’s Ganderbal district this evening, officials said.

Identifying the deceased as one Chabi Lal Vishwakarma, son of Nar Singh, hailing from Karnali Nepal, the officials said that soon after intimation about the sighting of the body in the water source, an operation was launched at the site which yielded in retrieval of the body.

Meanwhile confirming it, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations.(GNS)
