SRINAGAR: A double-storey residential house was completely gutted on Monday late evening in a fire incident in Ahim-Sharif village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, leaving the family shelterless and causing loss of property, officials said.

The officials said that fire broke out in the two storey house belongs to Mohammad Akram Wani, son of Abdul Gani  Wani resident of Bilal Colony Ahim-Sharif Bandipora, resulting in the property worth laks reduced into ashes.

"However timely action of locals and fire tenders doused the flames and save the other nearby properties, “they said, adding that the cause of fire could not be confirmed immediately.(KNO).

SRINAGAR: At least two firefighters have received injuries in a fire mishap in Bohri Kadal locality in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. 

An official told GNS that following the reporting of the incident, involving three single-storeyed shops, men and machinery from the Fire and Emergency Services Department reached the site to put out the flames. 

"During the rescue operation, two firefighters identified as Mudasir Ahmad and Robinder Sing have received burn injuries and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," the official said. 

The official in the meantime maintained that the fire has been controlled. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: At least seven shops of a shopping complex were gutted in a massive blaze that broke out in the main market of Kangan, officials said.

An official told the news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the midnight blaze caused extensive damage, particularly to two cloth houses within the complex. 

The fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames, however, the belongings worth lakhs of rupees were damaged, said the officials.

Meanwhile, no loss of life, or any injury was reported in the incident, and the cause of fire is being ascertained. (KNO)

SRINAGAR: A massive fire has broken out in Wazir Bagh locality in central Kashmir's Srinagar district this evening. 

Reports reaching GNS said that a hotel and a restaurant are caught in a blaze at Wazir Bagh near LD hospital even as the flames continued to spread.

Meanwhile, Fire & Emergency Department employees are at site to doze off the flames - when this report was being filed.

SRINAGAR: Several houseboats were gutted in a massive fire in Dal Lake, officials said.

They told GNS that the fire erupted in one of the houseboats near Ghat number 9 and engulfed several others in its vicinity before the fire was brought under control. 

The loss to the property is said to be in several crores of rupees. As per the intial report atleast half a dozen houseboat have been damaged due to fire.

 The cause of the fire is being  ascertained,they added.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: A three-storeyed building has caught fire in Humhama area in central Kashmir's Srinagar district this evening.

Reports reaching Kashmir Scroll said that a three-storeyed building caught fire, following which the Fire and Emergency Services Department arrived at the site.

The Fire and Emergency Services Department men were on site to control the fire, when this report was being drafted. More details awaited. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A pilgrim was killed while three others were injured in a road mishap in Katra Reasi district on Friday morning.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a vehicle carrying pilgrims was on its way to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine when a driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle skidded off the road near Katra. In the mishap, four pilgrims were injured and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries while two others were undergoing treatment.

The officer said all are Delhi residents. Meanwhile, police took cognizance of this road mishap. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man was killed in a road mishap in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Friday morning.

Reports reaching News Agency Kashmir Scroll said that an accident took place in the Wussan area of Ganderbal when a three-wheeler auto skidded off the road.

In the mishap, one person was critically injured and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors referred him to SKIMS Soura for treatment; however, he was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, police took cognizance of this road mishap and identified the deceased as Mohd Yousuf Shiekh. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Husband-wife duo from Srinagar were injured in a road accident in Sinthan top area of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

An official told News Agency the Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place at Sinthan Top when one Alto Car bearing registration number Jk01AT 5249 coming from kishtwar towards kokernag skidded down in to a deep gorge.

In the incidents driver Muneer Ahmad Malik S/o Hafeezullah Malik along with his wife namely Dr.Aasiya Tabasum both residents of Ranbeelgad Shalteng Srinagar received injuries They were evacuated and brought to PHC kokernag for treatment where condition is said to be stable.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man was killed and two others, one among the brother of the deceased, critically injured in a road mishap along Bandipora Srinagar highway this morning, officials said. 

They told GNS that a vehicle bearing registration number JK01J 5560 turned turtle at Shilvat, near Asrar Motors, resulting in injuries to three persons. 

The injured trio identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Rafeeq Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Majeed Dar and Saleem Ahmad Dar all residents of Gundroshan Narayan Bagh Ganderbal, were shifted to JVC Srinagar, where Saleem Ahmad Dar was declared as brought dead on arrival. 

Confirming it, a police official told GNS that an FIR number 174/2023 under section 279, 337 IPC has been registered in this regard for further investigations. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two residential houses of three brothers in north Kashmir's Handwara village were gutted in a fire mishap on Monday, officials said.

An official told Srinagar-based news gathering agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) that a massive fire broke out in Patwari Qalamabad Mawer area in the residential house in which three families were living, including Farooq, Shabir, and Altaf sons of Haider Khan.

In the mishap, the house was completely gutted, and a team of the fire service department, police, and locals put the fire under control and saved other nearby houses.

SRINAGAR: One person died while another injured in a road mishap in Jammu division on Saturday, officials said.

An official told Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) that in one incident, a person identified as Mangta, son of Chirag Din (57), of Vill Rajpura Kollar Samba, was declared dead by doctors at GMC Jammu.

The officer said that the deceased was critically injured in a road mishap. In another case, Irfan Ahmad, son of Sultan Mohd (18) of Ban Toll Plaza Nagrota, was hit by a motorcyclist; however, he was immediately admitted to GMC Jammu for advanced treatment.
