SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police alongside security forces arrested four associates linked with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit here on Saturday evening. 

“Acting on a specific information, a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) comprising of Srinagar Police, 50 RR, Valley QRT and 29Bn CRPF was established in Kenihama area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowgam in the evening hours, today,” reads a statement issued to GNS.

“During checking, a white Alto vehicle was intercepted by the joint party. Four militant associates identified as Md Yaseen Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Sheraz Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rashid Rather, Gulam Hassan Khandey son of Gulam Mohd khandey, all from Lcchnambal Zafran Colony Panthachowk and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Late Abdul Ganie Bhat resident of Frestabal Pampore who were boarding the vehicle were apprehended.”

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK 56 rifle with 3 Magazines, 75 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm, 01 Glock Pistol with 2 Magazines, 26 Rounds of 9 mm and 06 Chinese grenades were recovered from their possession. During preliminary investigation, it was found that the apprehended individuals were linked with the proscribed militant outfit JeM,” reads  the statement. 

“In this regard, a case FiR No.31/2024 under section 18, 23, 39 UAPA, 7/25 Arms Act and 120b of the IPC has been registered in Police Station Nowgam and further investigation is in progress,” the statement reads further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Saturday recovered a mine and other material in the Galhuti area of Rajouri district.

Officials told GNS that army's 49 RR at Galhuti recovered some explosive material during routine search in Galhuti area.

The explosive material recovered includes one 14nmm Live mine, two non-rechargeable 12 V batteries and two oil filters (Make-Kirloskar).(GNS)

SRINAGAR: The staffers of Police Station New Delhi have arrested key conspirator of a terror module recently busted in Kupwara. 

“The staff of the PS-New Delhi Railway Station has arrested one of the key conspirators of the recently busted terror module in Kupwara by Jammu & Kashmir Police. The accused person has been identified as Riyaz Ahmed. On 04/02/2024, he was arrested by the staff of PS-New Delhi Railway Station.  He was involved in hatching conspiracy along with one Khursheed Ahmad Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather in receiving arms and ammunition from across the LOC by the terrorist handlers”, reads a statement issued to GNS. 

“On 04/02/2024, specific information was received from investigation agencies in Jammu & Kashmir that one Riyaz Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Rasool Rather R/o Village New Gabra Tehsil Karnah District Kupwara, J&K is wanted in the recent terror module case busted by them, wherein five persons were arrested and incriminating material including 5 AK rifles (short), 5 AK Magazines, 16 short AK rounds were recovered. In this regard, a Case FIR No: 07/2024 US 120B IPC, 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 of UA (P) Act, Police Station-Karnah, Kupwara (J&K) was registered and under investigation”, reads the statement. 

“These arms and ammunition were sent by POK based LeT Terrorist handlers namely Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh @ Shakoor S/o Wali Mohammad Seikh R/o Gabra Karnah and Qazi Mohammad Khushal S/o Qazi Syed Yaseen R/o Dhanni Karnah. Both were operating from across the border. Further, it was informed that the alleged Riyaz Ahmad is absconding and would shortly reach New Delhi Railway Station in the wee hours”, reads the statement. 

“Sensing the gravity of the matter, a team comprising of Insp. Vishwanath Paswan SHO/NDRS, SI Naseeb Singh, ASI Yadram, ASI Sushil, HC Jaiveer and HC Gaurav were constituted and immediately deployed at all the entry/exits and strategic points of New Delhi Railway Station. The alert staff acted promptly and identified the alleged Riyaz Ahmad in the crowd and apprehended him, when he was trying to flee from Exit Gate no 1, of New Delhi Railway Station in the early morning hours. The alleged was subjected to intensive interrogation, and it was revealed that he along with his friend Altaf had boarded Mahakaushal Express from Jabalpur and reached Hazarat Nizamuddin railway station at about 3:00 PM on 03.02.2024. From there they took an auto and reached NDRS. Riyaz Ahmad Rather was about to go to some other hideout.”

“Alleged Riyaz Ahmad is suspected of having received a consignment of arms and ammunition from Khursheed Ahmad Rather S/o Lt Mohd. Yousuf Rather R/o New Gabra Karnah Kupwara J&K and Ghulam Sarwar Rather S/o Mohd Yousuf Rather R/o New Gabra Karnah Kupwara both already arrested by J&K Police.  Accused Riyaz Ahmad and his friend Altaf have been retired from Indian Army on 31.01.2023”, the statement reads. 

“One mobile phone and one SIM card has been recovered from his possession. Accused Riyaz Ahmad has been arrested under appropriate sections of law and Police Officials of concerned Police Station of J&K have been informed for further necessary action at their end”, reads the statement adding further investigation is continued to unearth the whole conspiracy. SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said to have busted an over-the-ground-worker module in Beerwah of central Kashmir's Budgam district. 

"The Budgam Police has dismantled a module comprising seven individuals from the Beerwah area. These individuals were involved in the dissemination of anti-national terrorist propaganda by affixing posters in and around the Beerwah area", said a police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS. 

The arrested persons, as per the statement, have been identified as  Romain Rasool Sheikh Irfan Nazir Sheikh, Rizwan Nazir Sheikh, Sahil Javid Sheikh all resident of Bonet Beerwah, Jahangir Bashir Mir, Tariq Ashraf Sheikh, both residents of Utligam Beerwah and Shakir Lateef Pathan, resident of Gandhipora, Beerwah.

"The module was led by Romain Rasool Sheikh and Irfan Nazir Sheikh, who during investigation were found manipulated by a LeT’s Pakistani handler", the statement reads. 

"It further emerged that the duo, acting as local motivators, instructed the other five individuals to carry out the assigned tasks", reads the statement adding incriminating evidence has been recovered from the apprehended persons.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla busted a marriage scam and arrested a fraudster involved in the case on Monday. 

A statement issued to GNS reads that, "Police Post Delina received a written application from one Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat resident of  Hudpora Khaitangan stating therein that his brother's marriage ceremony was scheduled to be held on  31st of December, 2023 and they were supposed to get the bride from Thana Mandi Rajouri. However the families don't know each other and are in touch through the middle man namely Sharif Ah Gaasi son of Ali Mohd Gaasi resident of Kakapora Pulwama and he is not responding to their phone calls."

"To this effect, case FIR under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation taken up", reads the statement. 

Acting upon this, Police Party of Police Post Delina, as per the statement, swung into action and after hectic efforts and technical the said person was traced out from Srinagar and during preliminary enquiry, it came to fore that the said person has fraudulently cheated the said family on the pretext of marriage and has grabbed illegally an amount to the tune of Rs. 1.18 lacs. 

"The accused was arrested in the instant case and was shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remained in custody", reads the statement adding further investigation is going on. (GNS)

According to police 2 IEDs, 2 handgrenades, 1 pistol with 2 magazines, 24 cartridges, 1 timer switch, 8 detonators, and batteries were recovered from them.

He said the terror module was handled by Firdaus Ahmed Bhat, an active member of the Lashkar-e-Toiba.

The police also said it is a major blow to terror module attempting to disturb peace in Punjab. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Wednesday claimed to have busted a hideout in the forest area of Doda district.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a hideout was busted by security forces at the Dewachan Gwadi forest area in the Bhaderwah area of Doda.

They said that in the operation, arms and ammunition were recovered.(KS) More Details Awaited

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Saturday claimed to have busted two militant hideouts in the southern region of Kashmir.

An official told Kashmir Scroll that two militant hideouts were busted by security forces in the Gujar Basti area of Gulshanpora Tral.

The officer said on a specific tip off, J&K Police and Army's 42 RR laid a cordon in the forest area of Nagbal Forest, Gulshanpora Tral. During searches, two militant hideouts were busted.(KS)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kupwara said to have busted a hideout and recovered arms and ammunition in a joint operation with Army and CRPF in Handwara area.

 “On 16 September 2023, during a search operation at Wadder Bala by parties of Army 21RR, Handwara Police and CRPF 92 Bn, a hideout of arms and ammunition was busted”, said a police spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS.

The arms and ammunition recovered from the site, as per the statement, include; 2 AK-47, 1 AK-56, 16 AK Magazines, 328 AK Rounds, 1 Pistol, 2 Pistol Magazines, 3 Pistol Rounds, 1 UGBL and 4 UGBL Rounds.

 “In relation to this, FIR No 208/2023 has been registered at Police Station Handwara under relevant sections UAPA and Arms Act and investigation initiated”, reads the statement further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces busted a terror module when they successfully arrested a "Hybrid terrorist" in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, police said on Saturday.

Police, along with 26 Assam Rifles and 3rd BN CRPF, busted a terror module in North Kashmir’s Bandipora and successfully foiled the nefarious designs of Pak-based terror handlers in reviving the terrorists in the district.

Police said on August 25, based on specific input generated by J&K police about the movement of a hybrid terrorist, a checkpoint was established by the joint party in the Dardgund area, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Pethkoot.

"At the checkpoint, a suspicious person, on noticing the joint party, tried to flee, but he was apprehended tactfully. On search, 1 pistol, 1 pistol magazine, 8 rounds, & other incriminating material were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shafayat Zubair Rishi of Nesbal Sumbal", police said.

"During questioning, the accused disclosed that he was on his way to collect a cache of arms and ammunition from a lady identified as Munira Begum, wife of killed terrorist & area commander Yousuf Choupan in Pazalpora area", police added.

"Pertinently, the accused was in touch with Pakistan-based terror handler Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, who exfiltrated to Pakistan in 1999 and was working on the revival of terrorists in the district. He was also involved in the 2000 Kothibagh IED blast, in which 14 people, including 12 police personnel, were killed and had remained associated with the proscribed terror outfit HM and later on with the terror outfit Al-Badr. Shafayat Zubair Rishi was also involved in burning an Army vehicle in Sumbal in 2009 and is out on bail in the said case", police said.

"Furthermore, on the disclosure of Munira Begum, a cache of arms and ammunition, including 1 Krinkov AK-47 rifle, 3 magazines, 90 rounds, and 1 pen pistol that was to be delivered to Shafait Reshi, was recovered from the nearby forest area", they said, adding that "during questioning, it was also figured that Munira has also gone to Pakistan twice".

"Moreover, Shafayat Rishi also admitted that he was about to receive 47 lakhs for the revival of terrorists. Later, this money was to be handed over to someone as per the requirements and directions of his across handler, Mushtaq Ah Mir", they said.

A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered, and further investigation is under process. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Police on Thrusday evening said that it busted a gang of four members for honey trap in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

While informing via it's official Twitter handle, the Srinagar police wrote, "4 members of a honey trap gang arrested 1.Firdous Ahmed Mir of Rainawari (fake SP) 2.Mohd Tariq Mir of lal bazar( Fake reporter) 3.Ashiya of Bemina (pseudo honey trap girl) 4.Masrat Mir of Habba kadal (fake crime branch officer).They use to lure gullible people & extort money. 

The Girl used to set up meeting with the gullible person. The other members of gang would impersonate as professionals like reporters/police & then blackmail the victim. One house of female accused in Mehjoor Nagar

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Thursday claimed to have busted a militant hideout along the line of control (LOC) in Poonch sector of Jammu division.

An official told news agency, Kashmir Scroll that during search operation which was launched along the line of control (LOC) by security forces busted a militant hideout.

The officer said huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from there which including 1 AK 47, 09 Mag 468 rounds ( mix of steel core and normal rds), 2 x 7.62 MM pistol, 04 x Mag, 60 x Rds, 06 x Gren (04 x blue, 02 x green colour) , 02 x Bags, 02 Pouches, 01 Digging shovel, 01 x wire cutter, 01 Pull through.

The officer said search operation along the line of control is still on. (KS)
