SRINAGAR: 7 Two women were killed and three persons including a child were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into gorge in Rajouri district, officials said on Thursday.

They said that the vehicle, Alto car, bearing registration number JK11F- 8759 met with the accident at Targai Budhal area of the mountainous district early morning. There were five people including one child, two women and as many men onboard it when the accident took place. Soon after the accident, local volunteers and police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Two women died on the spot while three other injured were shifted to nearby hospital wherefrom two were shifted to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment, they said. 

The deceased have been identified as Ishah Jajan (40) wife of Mohammad Nazir and Shenaz Akhter wife of Mohammad Altaf Shah. The injured have been identified as Ayoub Shah (50) son of Ghulam Nabi Shah , Mohammad Akbar Shah (65) son of Mehndi Shah and 10-month-old girl child. 

Confirming it, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into deep gorge in Doda district on Thursday.

Official sources said that a private vehicle (JK06A-1026) met with the accident near Malhori this late afternoon.

A police officer confirmed it to GNS and said that a case has been registered. He identified the deceased as Joginder Paul son of Lt Bodh Raj and Ranjeet Kumar son of Swami Raj, both residents of of Panthan Parnote PremNagar. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A rashly driven car rammed into a roadside tree at Trumgund village of North Kashmir’s Sopore town, killing the minor girl and leaving two others on board including the driver of the vehicle injured.

    According to the police, a speeding car (JK09A- 6032)  was on its way to Srinagar from Baramulla. As it reached near Trumgund area, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rammed into a road side tree. The hit was so fierce that the trunk of the big poplar tree was damaged.

    The villagers informed the police about the incident and the three persons on board including the driver were rushed to Sub-District Hospital but he doctors declared one among them brought dead who has been identified as 12-year-old girl Snowbal Maqbool, a resident of Trumgund village of Sopore.

    Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and further investigation is in progress. [KNT]

SRINAGAR: A teenage duo escaped an alleged molestation bid at the hands of a private vehicle driver and another onboard person by jumping out of a moving car in Handwara area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. 

“Today in April 10, 2023, information was received by PS Kralgund that two teenage girls had sought lift from a private vehicle at Rasripora to go towards Watergam", reads a police statement issued to GNS.

“However, on boarding the vehicle, the driver and another person attempted to molest the girls, upon which they jumped off the vehicle at Rasripora”, reads the statement adding an FIR no 33/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kralgund and investigation initiated. 

“In public interest, parents and guardians are urged to counsel their children and wards to avoid taking or accepting lifts from strangers”, reads the statement further. 

As per reports a driver and his accomplice allegedly attempted molestation of two girls, believed to be in her teenage years, after the latter asked for a lift. The girls have received some bruises and are being treated at a nearby health facility. (GNS)
