SRINAGAR: 

Mehbooba Mufti, the former Chief Minister and PDP President of Jammu and Kashmir emerged unharmed after her vehicle was involved in an accident in the Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Officials reported that the incident occurred on the roadside in Sangam. Fortunately, Mehbooba Mufti sustained no injuries, though her driver suffered a minor leg injury, according to initial reports.

A police officer confirmed the occurrence to Kashmir Dot Com, stating that they promptly reached the scene. Mufti continued her journey safely to Khanabal to meet with the victims of a recent fire. (KDC)

SRINAGAR: Encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Adigam area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Adigam.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: National Investigation Agency (NIA) Thursday attached three residential houses in Pulwama and Kulgam under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 

As learnt, the sleuths of the Investigation Agency attached a double-storied residential house and one single-storey residential house under survey Nos 722,723 & 724 at the village Chursoo, Awantipora, District Pulwama. 

The residential houses are owned jointly by Khursheed Ahmed Bhat @Khursheed Alam Bhat @ Surya, son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, resident of Bhatpora, Chursoo, Awantipora District Pulwama and his five brothers. 

The residential houses have been attached under the provisions of UA(P)A by the order of Hon'ble NA Special Court Jammu dated 30.09.2023. 

The Investigation Agency attached a single-storeyed residential house on land measuring 13 Marlas under survey No. 1603/717 at village Khudwani, Tehsil Qaimoh, District Kulgam.

The particular house belongs to Fayaz Ahmed Itoo @ Fayaz Khar, son of Abdul Rehman Ittoo, resident of village Khudwani, Quimoh, PS & District Kulgam.

The residential house too has been attached under the provisions of UA(P)A by the order of  NIA Special Court Jammu dated 30.09.2023. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In an unfortunate incident reported from Bijbhera in South Kashmir's Ananthnag district, thieves managed to loot gold ornaments worth an estimated 15 Lakhs from a residential house.

Sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that the residential house belonged to Mohd Shafi Wani and Manzoor Ahmad Wani, sons of Ghulam Rasool of Katoo Bijbhera.

 The thieves took advantage of their absence and successfully executed the crime, making away with the significant haul of gold ornaments.

SRINAGAR: Aman was injured after being attacked by a bear at his home in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that soon after the incident he was shifted to SDH Kokernag for treatment.

He said identified him as Mamood Kakas son of Mohammad Ismail Kalas resident of Lisser Shalnard Kokernag. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Saturday claimed to have busted two militant hideouts in the southern region of Kashmir.

An official told Kashmir Scroll that two militant hideouts were busted by security forces in the Gujar Basti area of Gulshanpora Tral.

The officer said on a specific tip off, J&K Police and Army's 42 RR laid a cordon in the forest area of Nagbal Forest, Gulshanpora Tral. During searches, two militant hideouts were busted.(KS)

SRINAGAR: The army colonel, a Major and the Deputy Superintendent of Police were killed an encounter with militants in Gadole area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.

They said that based on specific information about the presence of militants, a joint team of Police and the army launched a search and cordon operation in Gadole Kokernag.

As the joint team was moving towards the target area, militants opened indiscriminate in which an army colonel, major, soldier besides DySP of Police were injured.

Later, the colonel, major and the DysP succumbed to their injuries, a senior police officer told GNS.

DySP Humayun Bhat was the son of former DIG Ghulam Hassan Bhat.

He said the operation is going on and further reinforcement of Police and army have been rushed to the spot. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A militant managed to escape after hurling grenade in which three persons including a soldier were injured in Athlan Gadole of Kokernag, officials said on Thursday.

They told GNS that there was lone Militant hiding in the area and he threw grenade on joint team of Police and army which had launched cordon and search operation in the area amid input about presence of militants late last evening.

They said lone Militant was hiding in the area and he managed to fled away taking advantage darkness.

Also three persons were injured in the grenade blast and were evacuated to hospital, they said. Among the injured include two civilians and an army soldier. There condition is stated to be stable, they added. (GNS).

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday said that three army troopers were injured in a gunfight while searches have been Intensified in Halan forest area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Informing via tweet, The Kashmir Police Zone wrote," Three (03) jawans got injured in the encounter. They are being evacuated to hospital for treatment. Search in the area intensifies. Further details shall follow, reads the tweet.

SRINAGAR: In the aftermath of recent militant attacks, Director General of Police Dilbag Singh reviewed the security scenario of South Kashmir.

According to a Police spokesperson, the top police officer of the J&K visited South Kashmir’s Anantnag District and chaired high level meeting of Police, Army and CRPF officers.

“He reviewed the security scenario of South Kashmir as also security arrangements with regard to ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.”

Addressing the meeting, he directed the officers to reassess the strategy in combating the “anti-peace elements to ensure safety and security of the people.”

“He stressed on the importance of further developing intelligence networks and sharing the inputs to pre-empt any untoward incide

The DGP also stressed on joint night domination and foot patrolling. “The DGP directed for launching planned manhunt in suspected places to track down the (militants),” he spokesperson said.

The DGP emphasized the need for increased vigil and enhanced proactive actions to further peace and stability, he said.

“The DGP stressed on regular updates on the situation and directed the officers to initiate strict actions against people involved in anti-peace activities. He directed the officers to strengthen security arrangements and to undertake all necessary steps to ensure anti-peace elements don’t get any chance to disturb the tranquility.”

Stressing to remain more vigilant against support networks “who are helping militants to carry out their nefarious designs, the DGP directed for putting in all efforts to ensure terror free Jammu and Kashmir.”

 The DGP also highlighted the necessity of gaining furthermore trust and cooperation of the people as a crucial part of counter-militancy operations, he said.

With regard to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the DGP directed the officers to ensure that all the arrangements are “meticulously followed to ensure incident free Yatra”.

“He emphasized on best possible arrangements to ensure overall safety and smooth conduct of the yatra,” the spokesperson said, adding, “He directed the officers to continue their hard work for the successful completion of the yatra.”

Emerging challenges and their counter measures were also threadbare discussed during the meeting, he said.

“Detailed discussion regarding the (militant) crimes in the valley was held and the officers present in the meeting gave suggestions regarding anti-(militancy) operations and for strengthening peace further in J&K”.

The officers apprised the DGP regarding the area domination in Anantnag as also in other districts of South Kashmir. “The DGP was informed that security forces are deployed at strategic locations. He was also briefed about the anti-(militancy) security grid of South Kashmir.”

The DGP was accompanied by Spl DG CID, J&K  R.R Swain ADGP CRPF J&K, Nalin Prabhat, ADGP Armed J&K S. J. M. Gillani, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar and IG KOS CRPF G.K Verma.

SRINAGAR: A Woman on Wednesday allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to death in Kalan Srigufwara area of South Kashmir Anantnag district officials said.

They told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the Woman (35) hanged herself to death at her residence in Kalan Srigufwara.

They said that she was rushed to SDH Bijbehara where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation. (KS)
