SRINAGAR: Around 40 goats and sheep have been killed after lightning struck highlands of Doligam/Hinjhal Top of Banihal area in Ramban district last night, officials said on Wednesday.

An official told GNS that a police team and officials from concerned department rushed to the far-flung village after information was received.

So far there are details that 40 goats and sheep have been perished but the owner of livestock, who belongs to Anantnag district, claims number to be 80. However he said that so far around 40 sheep and goat have been confirmed to have been killed. “Teams of police and concerned department have reached the spot and detailed report is being prepared.”  (GNS)

SRINAGAR: 15 goats died after a cattle shed collapsed allegedly due to heavy rains in Dhokri area of Poonch on Monday.

Official sources told GNS that late last night, at about 0230 hours, the cattle shed of one Khadam Hussain son of Mohammad Hussain collapsed in W.No. 06 Panchayt Dhokri in Poonch, resulting in the death of 15 goats.  

They said that police have registered a case and started further investigations. (GNS)

SRINAGAR:  Two buffaloes and 15 sheep besides ten hens were charred alive after a ‘Kacha (mud)’ house was gutted in a fire in Manjakote area of Rajouri district overnight, officials said on Friday.

They said that the fire erupted during intervening night of March 30-31, Kacha house of one  Tazeem Akhtar widow of Mohammad Anayat at Panjgrain Thanda Pani, W. No 5, in Manjakote, resulting in the charring alive of two buffaloes, 15 sheep and ten hens. However there was no human loss in this incident, they said. A police officer confirmed it to GNS and said that a case has been registered in the incident. Cause of the fire is being ascertained, the officer added. (GNS)
