SRINAGAR: Another unidentified militant  has been killed taking toll to two after security forces foiled a Infiltration bid in Sahura Nala area of Uri in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

A top official told GNS that two militants has been killed, one body recovered so far in the firefight.

He further said that Searches in the area are underway.

Earlier, during wee hours, movement of militants were detected. Infiltraters were challenged by the security forces, leading to a firefight.

During firefight one militant was killed, whose identity was not yet ascertained, he said.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: A gangster and an Assistant Sub Inspector of police were killed and an SPO was injured during an encounter within the premises of Government Medical College Kathua, officials said on Wednesday.

They said that based on a tip off, a police party from Ramgarh started chasing “notorious faction of gangsters-Shunoo group-led by one Vasudev” and on noticing the same, the gangsters moved their vehicle into the premises of the Government Medical College Kathua at around 22:45 hours of April 2.  The gangsters, they said, opened fire at the police party, injuring a Sub-Inspector (probationer), Deepak Sharma, and an SPO identified as Anil Kumar. The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing “cross firing”, the accused gangster Vasu Dev alias Shanu, said to be a key accused in a murder case (93/2023 U/S 302/148/149/212/120-B IPC 3/4/25 Arms Act) registered at police station Ramgarh Samba, was killed.   
In the meanwhile, they said the injured were admitted to GMC and later ASI was referred to Amandeep hospital Pathankot for further treatment.    However the ASI succumbed to the injuries today, they added.  

Also Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Dysp Headquarters and SHO Kathua besides other police officials reached the spot at the Medical College for first hand details. 

Confirming it, a police officer told GNS that a case has been registered with regard to the incident. (GNS)

SRINAGAR:  Four persons were killed and three others sustained injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off a road in Ramban district on Monday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that a sumo vehicle on way from Maligam to Ukhrall skidded off the road near Maligam due to slippery conditions, resulting in on spot death of four persons and injuries to three others.

A rescue operation was instantly launched by police with the help of locals, during which the bodies were recovered and the injured persons evacuated to PHC Ukhral for immediate treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Wahid Bali, Anaytullah, Mohammad Ayoub Bali, and driver Sajjad Ahmad—all residents of Pogal.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A man allegedly killed his wife in Cheki Audoora village in Mawer area of Handwara on intervening Wednesday and Thursday night.

Srinagar-based news agency GNS quoted reliable sources as saying that one Mohammad Maqbool Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir used some sharp object to attack his wife, resulting in on spot death of the victim (name withheld), daughter of Mohammad Mukhtar Sheikh of Lawoosa.

“A police team has reached the spot to collect the necessary details,” they said.

A police official confirming the incident has said that they have registered a case in the matter.

“We are assessing the matter thoroughly and it may take us some time to come up with the full details, though as of now we have ascertained the culpability of the husband in the gore murder of the woman,” the official said. (HT)

SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed and as many others were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Reasi district on Tuesday.

A police official told GNS that a van (JK20A- 8411) was travelling from Reasi to Thub when it skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Thub village.

The accident, they said, took place at around 1800 hours and two persons namely Rashpal Singh son of Munshi Ram and Ganesh Singh son of Baldev Singh, both residents of Thub died on the spot and two others persons namely Raj Singh son Baldev Singh and Sanjay son of Munshi Ram were injured who were shifted to District Hospital Reasi for treatment in this regards. 

A senior police officer confirmed to GNS the death of two persons and injuries to as many others. He said that a case has been registered and further investigation taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: In the backdrop of arrest of the prime accused involved in killing of two residents from Punjab, and ‘upon his divulgence’, a massive operation has been launched to retrieve a mobile-phone besides other incriminating material thrown down by the arrestee into a water-body at two places along Ali Jan road here 

A top police officer told GNS that they apprehended the prime accused Adil Manzoor Langoo, a hybrid militant, from Zaldagar Srinagar recently. Upon persistent questioning, the accused, the officer said, divulged that he threw down the mobile-phone, he used to contact his handlers based in Pakistan, into a water body at Saidapora near Aiwa bridge – falling along Ali Jan road – after committing the act. “The accused has dropped other incriminating material at a separate place which also falls along the same stretch”, the officer said. 
 
“To take the investigation to a logical end, it was felt imperative to bring out the mobile-phone and other incriminating material out of the water body”, the officer said adding, “In this pursuit a massive operation has been launched, at both the specified places, since this morning where we have sought help of Marcos, SDRF and Navy personnel.”
 
“We hope that the required material is found and brought out successfully, which will help us a great deal to proceed with the investigations”, the officer said further.

Notably, Special Investigation Team was constituted under the DIG, Central Kashmir to further probe the incident.
 
Pertinent to mention here that, two residents of Amritsar Punjab came under a militant attack in Shalla Kadal area in Srinagar on February 7, 2024. While one Amrit Pal died instantly, his other colleague Rohit who suffered critical injuries in the incident succumbed a day later. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A minor girl was killed and four other persons injured in Donipora Sangam area of  Bijbehara in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday evening. 

Reports reaching to GNS said that an accident took place between a Thar bearing registration number JK05L-8889 and a truck bearing registration number JK22-9011 resulting in injuries to on board five persons. The injured persons  immediately evacuated to SDH Bijbehara for treatment where among them a minor declared dead by the doctors. The deceased has been identified as Adiba Jaan (5) daughter of Mohammad Aqib a resident of Razya Kadal srinagar and the injured persons identified as Aqib Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Shaban a resident of Raziya Kadal Srinagar, Aamir son of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat a resident of Baba Kadal Srinagar, Asmat Jaan wife of Aqib Ahmad a resident of Raziya Kadal and Afeen Jan daughter of Aqib Ahmad a resident of Raziya Kadal. 

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this regard for further investigation. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two people were killed and at least 13 others injured when a vehicle carrying a marriage party skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Reasi district on Monday, officials said.   

They said that the Ecco vehicle (JK20C-2474) was on way from Balmatkote to Baddar road when it met with the accident in Mohre area.  Immediately after the accident, a massive rescue operation was launched by locals and police, they said. While two people died, at least 13 others were injured and shifted to District Hospital Reasi wherefrom four critically wounded were shifted to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment, they said. 

SDM Mohre Sayed Mazhar Ali Shah confirmed it to GNS. 
 
Officials said that these people were returning from a marriage ceremony. A police official said that a case has been registered and further investigation taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A youth was killed, while another was injured on Friday after a mortar shell exploded in Samba district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that one youth namely Pawan Singh (19) son of Kuldeep Singh resident of village Chandli  died and another youth Roshan Singh ( 29) son of Kaka Singh resident of village Chandli sustained splinter injuries when Mortar shell they were reportedly fiddling with exploded in the forest area of village Chandli in the J/D of PP Goran ,PS Samba today around 5:00 p.m. Injured referred to GMC Jammu.

Meanwhile a case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: One person died and 24 others were injured in a collision between a minibus and a car  in Rajouri district on Wednesday.

They said that the mini-bus ( JK11A-3415) was on its way to Rajouri from Manjakote when it had the collision with the private car (JK02 CP 2442). One person died and 24 others were injured in the accident which took place near Thandikassi area of the district this morning, a police official told  GNS. He said a case has been registered and further investigations taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A newly recruited local militant affiliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit was killed in a gunfight on Thursday night with security forces in Arihal area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A top police officer told GNS that during firefight one local LeT militant namely Kifayat Ayoub Alie son of Mohd Ayoub Alie resident of Pinjoora Shopian was killed.

From his possession, one pistol, two grenades, two magazines and five rounds were recovered. He had joined the outfit on 04th October this year, the officer added.

On Thrusday evening, a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Arihal area. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: An unidentified militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight at Arihal area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thrusday, an official said.

A senior police officer, while confirming to GNS that one militant has been killed, whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier, a joint team of Police and the army launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the joint team of forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired on the joint team, which was retaliated triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
