LG Sinha Expresses Grief Over Tragic Ramban Road Accident

SRINAGAR: The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in the Ramban road accident.

In a handout to GNS, In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said: “I am deeply shocked to learn of the unfortunate road accident in Ramban today, in which precious lives have been lost. I send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

I have issued instructions to the District Administration and Divisional Commissioner to render all assistance, as provided in rule, to the kin of victims”. (GNS)

Minor From Srinagar Killed In South Kashmir Road Accident

SRINAGAR: A minor girl was killed and four other persons injured in Donipora Sangam area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Monday evening.

Reports reaching to GNS said that an accident took place between a Thar bearing registration number JK05L-8889 and a truck bearing registration number JK22-9011 resulting in injuries to on board five persons. The injured persons immediately evacuated to SDH Bijbehara for treatment where among them a minor declared dead by the doctors. The deceased has been identified as Adiba Jaan (5) daughter of Mohammad Aqib a resident of Razya Kadal srinagar and the injured persons identified as Aqib Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Shaban a resident of Raziya Kadal Srinagar, Aamir son of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat a resident of Baba Kadal Srinagar, Asmat Jaan wife of Aqib Ahmad a resident of Raziya Kadal and Afeen Jan daughter of Aqib Ahmad a resident of Raziya Kadal.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this regard for further investigation. (GNS)

Bandipora–Gurez Road Closed Till Further Orders

SRINAGAR: District administration Bandipora on Monday ordered for closure of the road leading towards Gurez.

“In view of recent snowfall and as recommended by Officer Commanding 56 RCC (GREF) C/O 56 APO vide letter number: 2048/SSC/BG/17/E2, dated 29.01.2024, Bandipora-Gurez road, shall remain closed for all types of vehicular movement, with immediate effect, till further orders”, reads an order, a copy of which lies with GNS. Div Com Inspects Progress of Work on Barzulla Bund Road

SRINAGAR: To put an end to the traffic congestion and recurring traffic jam on Natipora road, the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri during his spot visit today impressed on the R&B officers to make Barzulla Bund Road functional by the end of December.

The Div Com was accompanied by senior officers of R&B, Traffic Police and revenue officials.

It is worth mentioning here that a road is being constructed from Natipora to Barzulla Bridge to divert the traffic during peak hours to ease the traffic flow on the main road.

Div Com while walking the entire length of the road inspected the completed as well as ongoing works on the road. He instructed for removal of encroachments from the road and expedite the completion of pending work.

He was informed that half of the road has been completed while another half is being developed and shall be completed within fifteen days.

The locals on the occasion expressed gratitude to the Divisional Administration for addressing their long pending demand of putting an end to recurring traffic jams at Natipora by the development of parallel Bund Road.

The Div Com also inspected the ongoing works of development of walkway and cycle track on the left bank of Barzulla Canal.

On the occasion, he was briefed about the beautification and development projects being executed by SSCL.

Several Hamlets of Kupwara to get Road Connectivity as Work on NABARD Approved

SRINAGAR: A dream come true for the people of Takiya, Durri, and Dabar hamlets of Kupwara to get road connectivity with the rest of the district since independence as work on NABARD approved Rs 5.17 Crore project has been taken up by the authorities.

The people of Takiya, Durri, and Dabar hamlets of (Bhadarkote) in the Karnah Sub Division of Kupwara on Monday started celebrating with joy after the road construction project was taken up for these hamlets for the first time.

As soon as the JCB machines started earth-cutting work for the road project, the people of the area started exchanging sweets and welcomed officials with garlands.

The work on “Construction of Road from Jub Chitterkote to Takiya Durie up to Dabar Bhadarkote with a Project cost of Rs 517.53 Lakhs has been approved under NABARD which will benefit entire village especially Takiya, Durri, and Dabar hamlets of Bhadarkote where most of the families are below the poverty line, an official spokesman said.

This road project will first connect Takiya, the hamlet where recently a specially-abled girl was charred to death in a tragic fire incident.

After the approval of this much-needed road project, the demand for resolution of land dispute between the locals and timely execution was put forth by the residents during Block Diwas at Tangdar before the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan.

Sudan directed SDM Karnah to bring all the stakeholders on board get the dispute resolved and start the road project so that residents do not face problems.
Following the resolution of a land dispute by SDM Karnah, the residents offered land for the execution of the road project without any compensation.

Locals of the area welcomed the administration's move and expressed their gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and SDM Karnah for playing their important role in the execution of the project as it was a long pending demand.

The road project will benefit the people of Riyala, Murchana, Ib-kote pingala Haridal besides Bahadurkote as it would be the shortest route for the inhabitants of these villages to almost 80 percent of the villages and also to Tehsil headquarter at Tangdar.

“This is a dream come true for the people of the area who have suffered a lot of lack of road connectivity. In absence of better road connectivity the situation used to get worse when there was any medical emergency or any other incident in the area," residents said.

While lauding the District Administration Kupwara and Sub Divisional Administration, locals said that this road project would herald a new dawn in our lives.

Highlighting the problem of not being able to reach the destination in case of emergency due to non-availability of road, a local of Takiya said, “We have been suffering a lot. We have to carry our patients uphill up to Bahadurkote to access any kind of transport to Sub District Hospital at Tangdar. Now, this road will lessen our travel time and efforts in a big way. The road project will also help students of these hamlets reach High School at Bahadurkote”.

However, the locals have appealed Tehsil and District Administration to ensure that this road project is completed as per approved DPR, up to the last unconnected hamlet, Dabar, at the earliest. (UNI)

Mughal Road Through for Vehicular Traffic, Gurez-Bandipora Road also Restored

SRINAGAR: Authorities have allowed traffic along Mughal road in Shopian and also restored the Gurez-Bandipora road for vehicular traffic movement.

Officials in the knowhow of things told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the vehicular traffic movement along the two roads was suspended following recent snowfall.

"With the improvement in weather conditions and clearance of the roads, the traffic movement has been allowed along the two roads", the official said. (KS)

Two Youngsters Critically Injured in a Bike Accident in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Two youths were injured after a bike they were riding was hit by unknown vehicle in Baghat Chowk area of Central Kashmir Srinagar district on Saturday afternoon.

Official sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that two youths were critically injured in Baghat Chowk following which they were shifted to hospital for treatment.

They have been identified as Danish Rashid and Sauleh Shafi both residents of Budgam. Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation. (KS)

Driver Dies in Ramban Road Accident

SRINAGAR: A driver lost his life after a truck he was driving fell into a deep gorge in Ramban district.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a truck bearing no JK03E-8003 fell in deep gorge near Kela Morh Ramban leading to unfortunate death of driver.

He has been identified as Mohd Irfan Dar son of Abdul Qayoom Dar resident of Kulgam.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation. (KS)

Married Couple Injured in Kokernag Road Accident

SRINAGAR: Husband-wife duo from Srinagar were injured in a road accident in Sinthan top area of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

An official told News Agency the Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place at Sinthan Top when one Alto Car bearing registration number Jk01AT 5249 coming from kishtwar towards kokernag skidded down in to a deep gorge.

In the incidents driver Muneer Ahmad Malik S/o Hafeezullah Malik along with his wife namely Dr.Aasiya Tabasum both residents of Ranbeelgad Shalteng Srinagar received injuries They were evacuated and brought to PHC kokernag for treatment where condition is said to be stable.

Biker Lost Life in Baramulla Road Accident

SRINAGAR: A biker died in a road accident in the Boniyar area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place at Goodwill School Boniyar involving a bike rider, namely Kamran Khan (registration no. JK21E4794), resulting in injuries. He said that the injured person was taken to PHC Boniyar where from doctors referred him to GMC Bla where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival official added.

A police official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that cognizance of the incident has been initiated and further formalities are being done. (KS)

Six-Year Old Girl Dies In Rajouri Road Accident

SRINAGAR: A six year old girl lost her life in a road accident in Nowshera area of Rajouri district on Thursday. A police official told news wire Kashmir Scroll that a six-year old girl identified as Mahi Harsh died after slipping from a school bus in Nowshera, Rajouri district.

He said that her head hit the road and she was taken to hospital where she died. The deceased was UKG student and bus driver has fled from the spot,he said.

Woman Dies, Another Person Injured in Bijbehara Road Mishap

SRINAGAR: A woman died and another person was injured in a road mishap in Bijbehara in south Kashmir's Anantnag district this afternoon, officials said.

They told GNS that an accident took place near Petrol Pump in Sangam Bijbehara, resulting in injuries to two persons identified as Khatija Begum, wife of Abdul Aziz Awan and Bilal Ahmad Awan son of Mohammad Sultan - both residents of Rajouri.

The duo was evacuated from the site to SDH Bijbehara, where Khatija Begum succumbed shortly after being admitted for treatment.

Confirming it, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for investigations. (GNS)
