Body of Labourer Recovered, Two Still Missing in Uri Drowning Incident

SRINAGAR: Body of a labourer was recovered, almost a week after he alongside two others, fell and drowned in river Jhelum,

An official told GNS the body of one Mohammad Aslam Chauhan, a resident of Anantnag, was retrieved from the river in a joint operation by SDRF, Civil Defence Uri, Police, Army and locals on Saturday.

“The two others Shakeel Ahmed Mir, resident of Kupwara and Bilal Ahmed Rishi resident of Budgam on the other hand are still missing,” the official said.

“The operation to look for the other two persons going on in and around the site,” the official said further.

Pertinent to mention here that the three laborers had fallen into the river Jhelum when an old bridge collapsed on the river Jhelum in the Gingal area in Uri on March 3, 2024. (GNS)

Vehicle Rolls Down on Doda Highway, One Inured, Another Missing

SRINAGAR: One person has been injured while another reported missing after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down on Doda highway in Jammu region on Monday evening.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that an Alto car with the registration number JK06B 1008 was traveling from Doda towards Indloo Gandoh when it reached near Sharan and rolled down from the road. As a result, one person named Dupinder Singh, aged 25 years of Kandoolo, got injured and was shifted to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Gandoh for treatment.

The officer said that another individual, Shubam Kumar, aged 21 years and son of Varinder Singh of Kandoolo went missing. He said a search operation is underway to locate Shubam Kumar. (KS)

Missing Rajouri Minor Girl Found Dead, Body Recovered

SRINAGAR: In shocking news, a minor girl who was missing in Rajouri district was found dead today morning, officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a 3-year-old minor girl went missing yesterday; however, after hectic efforts by police, SDRF and locals recovered her body from a nallah.

A police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the body has been taken to the hospital.

He said that after completing the medical and legal formalities, the body will be handed over to the family for last rights. (KS)

Missing Handwara Trio Traced in Chennai

SRINAGAR: Three school going children who had gone missing from Handwara last Monday have been traced from Chennai in south India's Tamil Nadu State.

As reported by GNS three minor boys namely Nazim Mumtaz, son of Mumtaz Ahmad Lone of Phalmarg, Faizan Hameed Mir son of Abdul Hameed Mir of Kalmoona and Uzair Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Shafi Dar of Chammpora.

"After looking for every possible place, the trio couldn't be located until information was received from Chennai in Tamil Nadu about their presence", said an official source.

Confirming the receipt of information about the sighting of the trio in Chennai, a police official told GNS that they are in continuous touch with the authorities there to ensure all the three boys are brought back and reunited with their families at an earliest. (GNS)

Three Minor Boys Go Missing In Handwara

SRINAGAR: Three school-going minor boys have gone missing from Villgam in Handwara area in north Kashmir's Kupwara district since yesterday.

Official sources told GNS that three minor boys went missing while they were out for playing in the vicinity on Monday afternoon.

The missing trio has been identified as Nazim Mumtaz, son of Mumtaz Ahmad Lone, resident of Phalmarg, Faizan Hameed Mir, son of Abdul Hameed Mir, resident of Kalmoona and Uzair Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Shafi Dar of Chammpora.

"The parents of the missing boys have lodged a missing report at Police Station Villgam", the sources said.

When contacted, SHO Villgam Jaan Mohammad confirmed about receipt of a missing report into the matter. "We have launched efforts to trace the trio", he said further urging the local inhabitants to come up if they have any information or clue about the boys. (GNS)

Missing Army Man Found After Five Days In Kulgam: ADGP

SRINAGAR: An army soldier who had gone missing in Kulgam district of south Kashmir has been found, Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar said on Thursday.

“Missing Army jawan has been recovered by Kulgam Police. Joint #interrogation will start shortly after medical checkup. Further details shall follow,” the ADGP Kashmir said in a tweet, as per GNS.

The soldier, Javaid Ahmad Wani, had gone missing five days ago. Posted in the Ladakh region, he was supposed to join work on Sunday but went missing on Saturday evening. His car was found abandoned at Paranhall area of the district.(GNS)

Police Efforts Continue To Locate Kulgam Missing Solider

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday said that security forces efforts are on to locate the missing soldier of Kulgam.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, the DGP as per news agency Kashmir Scroll said that a case has already been registered against the Kulgam missing soldier and efforts of the police and security agencies are on to locate him.

The top officer said we are hopeful to locate the missing soldier at the earliest.

Pertinently, An army soldier, Javeed Ahmad, a resident of Asthal Kulgam on leave, went missing on Sunday.(KS)

SRINAGAR: Mohd Hanief S/O Akbar Ali R/O Channa tehsil Chassana Reasi reported at Police Station Chassana about his missing daughter. Missing report has been entered vide DDR No.12 dated 21-02-23 and search launched. Enquiries from the family, relatives & friends gave sufficient clues of the missing girl & accordingly Sources of police were activated.

After meticulous track-following & consistent hectic efforts, The said girl has been traced out from Bhatindi, Jammu and after completing all legal formalities, the missing report has been closed vide DDR no.15, Dated – 17/06/2023 and Girl has been reunited with the family.

In another incident Police team of District Reasi traced another missing girl namely Nazma Bibi W/O Shoket Ali D/O Khan Mohd. Whose missing report was entered vide DDR No. 08 dated 31/05/2023. After hectic efforts team of Police remained successful in tracing the missing girl. After completing all legal procedures, girl is handed over to the family.

In another incident, one Kulwant Singh S/O Ram Das R/O Bhagtha Tehsil Katra came at P/S Katra and produced an application for lodging the missing of their two children namely 1. Sumeet Kumar S/O Vijay Kumar 2. Raghbir Singh S/O Kulwant Singh both age 12 yrs and both neighbours and friends. On 14.06.2023 at about 1 :30 hrs afternoon have found missing from home and gone somewhere out of Bhagtha or somebody has kidnapped our children and taken away. On this case FIR No. 193/23 U/S 363 IPC registered and investigation entrusted to PSI Raghav Chalotra. Through technical evidences and human intelligence networks the said children were traced out after strenuous efforts by the team including PSI Raghav Chalotra and HC Kuldeep Singh which carried out searches in the UT and neighbouring states and lastly the children were traced out near Haryana UP border district namely Yamunanagar. The recovered children were handed over to the legal hiers after completing legal formalities.

In another incident, one Imtiaz Ahmed S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Jij Kadeen Tehsil Thakrakote District Reasi lodged an application regarding missing of his wife namely Ruksana Kousar. On his complaint missing report entered at P/S Arnas vide DDR No.10 dated 14/06/2023 and after hectic effort same has been traced out from Kashmir, missing report closed vide DDR No 19 dated 19/06/23 and after completing all legal formalities handed over to her legal heirs.

People of District Reasi in general and family members in particular appreciated prompt response of Reasi Police in tracing the missing well in time.

Missing Minor From Bangladesh Rescued In The Trafficking Case In Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Child Protection Officer (CPO), Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS) District Kulgam has received one child of age 13 years (Name withheld) resident of Bangladesh who was trafficked from Bangladesh to Kashmir month before and was left at Awantipora Pulwama.

The custody of the child was taken after the CPO ICPS Kulgam received a call from police post Mirbazar regarding the trafficking of children case. The CPO along with outreach workers reached the spot and received the child.

The Incharge police post informed CPO, ICPS Kulgam for immediate necessary action in the matter.

Accordingly, the child was kept in Bait ul Hilal Chawalgam, Kulgam by team ICPS Kulgam till the time his family is traced under proper procedure.

Meanwhile, the whole exercise took place under the proper supervision of District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Kulgam, Snobar Altaf.

The DCPO Kulgam thanked SHO Mirbazar for timely action in the matter and requested general public to inform DCPO, ICPS, Kulgam regarding children in need of care and protection on following numbers 7889354824-9622296000-7006571377.

Kashmiri Youth Goes Missing From Punjab

SRINAGAR: A youth from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has gone missing from Ludhiana city of the northern Indian state of Punjab.

Firdous Ahmed Peer, a resident of the Muqam Dardpora Kralpora area of Kupwara went missing on 17 February this year and since then his whereabouts is unknown to his family.

The family members including the mother and the sister of the missing youth emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar to attract the attention of the media towards the matter.

“He was working in a hotel at Ludhiana where he had gone there along with a friend from Anantnag. The hotel authorities informed us that Firdous is untraceable since 17 February,” one of the relatives told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Another relative said that police in Ludhiana don’t take the issue seriously. “We repeatedly visited the police station in Ludhiana but the men in uniform are not giving serious heed and no efforts are being made to locate our missing member,” he said.

The protesting family appealed to the Jammu Kashmir Police and Kupwara district administration to take up the issue with the Punjab Police. (KNT)

Kupwara Man's Body Retrieved from River After 23 Days

Body of a 67-year-old man was found and retrieved from a river after remaining elusive to his family since March 5, officials said.

They told GNS that semi-decomposed body of one Mohammad Shaban Sofi son of Mohammad Shukoor, resident of Arampora Drugmulla was sighted by passersby from a river at Braripora Handwara.

Soon after a police team reached the spot and took the body to DH Handwara for medico-legal formalities.

Confirming the retrieval of the body, a police official told GNS that the person has been missing from his home since March 5. "We have taken the body to DH Handwara for medico-legal formalities to ascertain the nature of the death", he said. (GNS)
