SRINAGAR: An suspected object was found in Baramulla Kupwara highway in Kralgund area of Handwara on Thursday. Official sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that the suspected object was detected by the police and army.

They said bomb disposal squad teams of the Army and police reached at the spot and destroyed it safely. An official also confirmed that the object was defused after being recovered by a joint party. He added that traffic that was halted is being restored. Further investigation has been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A 50-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a black bear in Khurhama Lolab in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. 

Reports reaching GNS said that one Mohammad Yousaf Mir was attacked by a female bear, roaming around the area in Shranth Khurhama. 

The injured man was taken to a nearby health facility for immediate medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department has launched an operation to tranquilize the roaming bear at an earliest to avoid any untoward incident in the area. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A man was killed while another person was critically injured in a road accident near Badrah crossing Kralgund area of North Kashmir Kupwara district on Friday officials said.

They told news agency Kashmir Scroll said that two persons identified as Viqar Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Afzal Bhat and another person who’s identity is being ascertained were critically injured after scooty they were travelling on met with an accident with tractor near Badrah crossing Kralgund this evening.

They said that both the injured persons were rushed to Associated Hospital GMC Handwara for treatment, where Viqar Ahmad Bhat was declared brought dead, while another injured person has been referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A man lost his life in a road accident in Salamabad Bijhama area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Tuesday.

A police official official told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place at Salamabad Bijhama when a diver of Tata Sumo lost its control and skidded off the road. In the incident one person namely Mehardin Poswal son of Jammu Poswal resident of Salamabad Bijhama received critical injuries.

Police reached to the spot and shifted to nearby hospital PCH Boniyar where doctors declared him dead on arrival,he said. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A group of prominent political activists from the Kreeri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district joined Apni Party on Friday in the presence of the party president, Syed Altaf Bukhari, during an event organized at the party's head office in Srinagar.

The new entrants included a prominent businessman, Haji Ghulam Hassan Wani, Syed Bahaul Haq, Ghulam Rasool Banday, Hilal Ahmad Akhoon, Mohammad Arif Wani, Shabir Ahmad Wani, Bilal Ahmad Wani, Syed Shamsul Haq, Syed Bilal Ahmad, Syed Aijaz Ahmad, Syed Waseem Shabir, Ghulam Mohammad, and others. Besides Syed Altaf Bukhari, the party leaders, including the party in charge for Kreeri, Shabir Ahmad Shah, senior leader Noor-ud-Din Andrabi, and others, were present.

On this occasion, Syed Altaf Bukhari greeted the new entrants into the party fold.
"I wholeheartedly welcome you all to the Apni Party, and I am sure your joining would strengthen the party further in Kreeri Baramulla." Bukhari said.

He added that the increasing number of enthusiastic political activists and workers joining the Apni Party across Jammu and Kashmir reflects the widespread public acceptance the party is garnering with each passing day. 

"This, I firmly believe, is attributed to our unambiguous political narrative and a clear-cut vision that has earned the trust of the people and fueled their eagerness to collaborate with our party," he added.

SRINAGAR: Security force on Thursday claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

SRINAGAR: A man was injured after attacked by leopard in forest area of Bijhama North Kashmir Baramulla district on Monday.

An official told news agency, Kashmir Scroll that man namely Ali sheer khan s/o Ab aziz khan R/o Lachipora was attacked by leopard in Forest area of Dazna Bijhama. In the incident, he got injured and shifted to hospital for treatment.

SRINAGAR: Police in North Kashmir have booked trio under Public Safety Act and shifted them to Jammu Jail for their alleged involvement in ‘anti-India’ activities.
 
Baramulla Police said that many cases had been registered against these three persons in connection with anti-national activities.
  
The police as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust added that the formal detention orders were secured from the competent authorities and the trio had been shifted to Kot Balwal Jail Jammu.
  
The arrested persons have been identified as Tawseef Ahmed of Andargam Pattan, Ghulam Muhammad Lone of Lachipora Uri and Shahzad Ahmed Malik, a resident of Singhpora Pattan. (KNT)

SRINAGAR: A BSNL employee died after he was electrocuted while performing his duties in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials said that a 48-year old employee received an electric shock when he was repairing a wire in the Pattan area.

The employee who has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir S/O Wali Mohammad Mir resident of Tantraypora Palhallan was shifted to the hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Police in this regard have registered a case and investigations initiated.(CNS)

SRINAGAR: Joint Forces claimed to have arrested two militant associates including a girl in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

   Police said that the arrested persons are affiliated with banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

  Police said that these arrests were made in Pattan area by police, army and SSB personnel jointly. They identified them as Farooq Ahmad Parra, a resident of Par Mohalla Pattan and Saima Bashir Mir of Chinkipora Sopore. They have been lodged at police station Sopore.

   Police claimed that on their disclosure, arms & ammunition including a Pistol, 2 Pistol Magazines, 5 Pistol rounds, and IED weighing 2 kilograms along with remote control & other incriminating materials have been recovered.

    During preliminary questioning, the duo revealed that they were working as militant associates with active LeT militant Abid Qayoom Lone of Wussan Pattan. (KNT)
