SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed officials for timely completion of transit accommodation for Prime Minister Package employees at Zewan.

Sinha conducted onsite inspection work of the transit accommodation for PM Package employees at Zewan and reviewed ongoing construction work and directed for timely completion and strict monitoring of the progress of under-construction blocks.

Later, the Lt Governor visited the construction site for the Office and Yatri Niwas of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and inspected the progress made on the prestigious project.

“It should be our mission to ensure speedier and quality construction of the ongoing projects to add more strength to socio-economic advancement,” he said.

SRINAGAR: The authorities on Monday sealed Tehsil Social Welfare office in Dangiwachi area of Sopore after its employees were found absent, while explanation has also been sought from the absent employees. 

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that ADC Sopore SA Raina today conducted a surprise visit of the office, during which employees were found absent. 

He said that explanation has been sought from the absent employees and they have also been attached to the office of Tehsildar Dangiwacha. 

"Tehsildar Dangiwachi has appointed as enquiry officer to investigate the matter and submit his report within two days," he said. (KNO)

SRINAGAR :Police on Wednesday said that two employees of forest department were injured in a militant attack in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that in Pulwama received an information about a militant crime incident at Bangender Bridge in which two forest department employees got injured. Senior police officers alongwith additional reinforcement reached at the terror crime spot to ascertain the facts.

According to police spokesman, police Station Rajpora received an information through reliable source that militants had fired upon a team of forest department of district Budgam causing injuries to 02 employees, who had laid a checkpoint to apprehend the timber smugglers near Bangender Bridge falling under the jurisdiction of PS Rajpora in district Pulwama. However, the injured were immediately evacuated to hospital for the treatment. Both the injured have been identified as:Imran Yousaf Wani son of Mohd Yousaf Wani resident of Mohnu, Chararisherif (bullet injury in thigh)and shifted to SHMS Hospital for specialised treatment and Jahangir Ahmed Chechi (Forester) son of Gh Mohiudin Chechi resident of Gogjipather, Chadoora.(minor superficial injuries and discharged after first aid, he said.

Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. 79/2023 under sections 16,20 UAP ( Act) , 307  IPC and 7/ 27 IA Act got registered in PS Rajpora and investigation has been initiated, he said.

Soon after the incident whole area was cordoned off by Police, Army and CAPFs and intensive search operation was launched, he said.

During the search of the of the scene of crime, two empty fired cartridges of Ak-47 ammunition and one bullet head was recovered from the spot. However, the search operation is going on, reads the statement. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: The Administrative Council (AC) which met here under Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha gave approval to theabsorption of 145 Employees of Hotel Corporation of India Limited (HCIL) working at Centaur Lake view Hotel, Srinagar, in different corporations under the Tourism Department.

Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Dr.Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, J&K; and Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.

The decision was taken on the recommendations of the committee that the existing staff of the Hotel Corporation of India Limited will be absorbed by the UT of J&K on the existing terms and conditions while the payment of retirement gratuity and other benefits of the employees for the period they worked with HCI will be borne by HCI.

The Hotel Corporation of India has 145 permanent employees of Centaur Lake View Hotel as on 01.05.2023 which will be absorbed on existing terms and conditions in Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation Ltd and Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, Srinagar, as per their requirement and absorptive capacity to be determined by the Tourism Department. According to a government order, Anshumali Sharma, JKAS, General Manager, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation, Jammu, has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Reasi, against an available vacancy.

Irfan Bahadur, JKAS, Secretary, Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA), Srinagar, has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kupwara, against an available vacancy, the order, a copy of which lies with GNs, reads.

Afroza Bano, JKAS, Sub-Registrar, Ganderbal, has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Budgam, relieving, Muzamil Maqbool Beigh, JKAS, Collector, Land Acquisition, Special Army (Budgam and Srinagar) of the additional charge of the post, it said.

Mohammad Altaf Bhat, JKAS, Tehsildar, Kangan, has been transferred and posted as Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ganderbal. “He shall also hold the additional charge of the post of Sub-Registrar, Ganderbal, till further orders,” the order added. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today placed 31 Waqf employees under suspension for dereliction of duties at several shrines of District Srinagar. It has been learnt that several employees were found unauthorisedly absent when the chairperson carried out the surprise inspection, however, majority of the employees were suspended for their failure to maintain cleanliness at the shrines, mosques & in associated Sanitary Complexes/Ablution points. The action was taken after Dr Darakhshan visited the shrines of Makhdoom Sahab, Aasari Shareef Hazratbal, & Naqshband Sahib Srinagar. Tehsildar J&K Waqf Board has been directed to conduct an enquiry into the matter & submit report within 3 days to the Chairperson for further action.
