SRINAGAR: A man from Rajouri was found dead in Drung Tangmarg area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Monday afternoon.

They told a news agency, Kashmir Scroll that a male body was spotted by some passersby who informed police. They said that the police party rushed to the spot and took the body into their custody.

 He was later identified as Mahroof son of Sain resident of Nowhera Rajouri while further investigation has been taken up, they said. (KS)

SRINAGAR: An elderly man hanged himself to death at his home in Rajouri district on Monday. An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) that aged about 72 years, of Beji Lower Kewal tehsil Kotranka, hanging himself inside his own house with a wooden beam, died on the spot.

The officer said that the police, in this regard, have registered a case and started further investigation. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man drowned to death on Friday while talking a bath in a nallah sukto in Rajouri district officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a man identified as Joginder Singh, son of Punjab Singh of Arnas, a laborer by profession, went to Nallah Sukto at Irwan Khetar for a bath but suddenly drowned due to deep water.

The officer said soon after receiving information, a police team headed by SHO Rajouri reached the spot, and with the help of the SDRF team, the body was retrieved from the nallah. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man was injured after being attacked by a bear in Pachgam nard area of South Kashmir Kulgam district on Wednesday.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that bear attacked and Injured man in Pachgam Nard Kund in Kulgam and soon after the incident he was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad from Pachgam Nard Kund. Locals have sought attention of wildlife department in this regard.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A man slipped to death in Rajouri district on Tuesday.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a man namely Pervaiz Hussain (38) son of Noor Mohd resident of Atti Darhali has been slipped from stairs near ziarat at abdullah bridge and received injuries.

He said that injured was shifted to GMC Rajouri where doctors declared him brought dead. Further proceedings have been taken up.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A 45-year-old man died on Friday when a tree fell on him in Behak Wali top forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.

An official told the news Kashmir Scroll the man namely Mohammad Amin Cheechi son of Ambir Din Cheechi resident of Affan Warnow was critically injured after the tree fell on him in Behak Wali top forest area while he was grazing cattle. He said that tree fell down due to thunder storm in the area and said person died on spot.

Meanwhile further proceedings have been taken up in this regard. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man lost his life in a road accident in Harnag area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday.

An official told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that road accident happened at Harnag Anantnag between school van and bicycle.

He said that in the incident bicycle rider Bashir ahmad Dar Son of Gh mohd Dar resident of Muniward Harnag Anantnag was critically injured and wass shifted to GMC associated hospital Janglat Mandi Anantnag where he succumbed.

Meanwhile police have taken up investigation in this regard.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A 50-year-old man was injured after being attacked by a black bear in Khurhama Lolab in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. 

Reports reaching GNS said that one Mohammad Yousaf Mir was attacked by a female bear, roaming around the area in Shranth Khurhama. 

The injured man was taken to a nearby health facility for immediate medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department has launched an operation to tranquilize the roaming bear at an earliest to avoid any untoward incident in the area. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Body of an elderly man was found in Veshow Nallah in Khudwani area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that some locals spotted the body in Veshow Nallah and immediately informed the police. 

He said that soon a police team reached to the spot and recovered the body. 

He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Sofi (65) son of Sonullah Sofi of Chirhama area of Kulgam.

SRINAGAR: A man was injured after being attacked by a bear at his home in north Kashmir's Kupwara village on Friday morning. A

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that soon after the incident he was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment at Kupwara, where from he was referred to GMC Baramulla for treatment.

He said identified him as Ghulam Qadir Payer son of Mohammad Jamal Payer of Sulkote Kupwara. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A court in Tangmarg has convicted and sentenced a man for rash and negligent driving in which a person had died eleven years ago in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. 

According to the prosecution, on 7 July 2012, police station Tangmarg received information from reliable sources, one person namely Bilal Ahmad Magrey was hit and critically injured by a stone near stone crusher Shrai Nallah in Tangmarg. Magrey was later taken to Tangmarg Hospital for where he expired, police said.

However, subsequently it transpired following investigation that Magrey had not died due to any stone but passed away after being hit by a Tipper (JK05-6067), which was driven by the accused at the time of occurrence, the prosecution said.

On 14 July 2012, the prosecution said that a formal FIR (No. 90/2012) was registered under section 279, 304-A RPC in police Tangmarg. Later the charegesheet was filed on 19-12-2012, and the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Tangmarg, Towseef Ahmad Mir, eventually convicted and sentenced accused today.  

“…prosecution (have) fully established beyond any shadow of doubt that the accused person caused the death of one Bilal Ahmad Magrey while driving the Tipper bearing Registration No. JK05-6067in a rash and negligent manner,” the court said after hearing Sr Prosecuting Officer Salim Javid for police and counsel for the accused.

“Thus, this court is of considered opinion that the charges against the accused person are proved to the extent of Sec 279, 304-A RPC. All the ingredients of Sec 279, 304-A RPC are fully made out,” the court said and convicted the accused, Riyaz Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Khaliq Dar under section 279, 304-A RPC,” the court said as per judgment with GNS.

Subsequently, the court sentenced Dar one year’s simple imprisonment for the offence under section 304-A RPC and ordered him to pay compensation amount of Rs.50,000 to the legal heir of the deceased. The court also sentenced him to two months of simple imprisonment for the offence under section 279 RPC

“All the sentences shall run concurrently. If the fine and compensation amount is not paid, then he shall further undergo simple imprisonment for a period of two months,” the court added. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A boy was critically injured after he was attacked by unknown person in Qazigund area of South Kashmir An official told news agency, Kashmir Scroll that unknown person attacked one boy namely Faisal imtiyaz son of Imtiyaz Hussain Ganie resident of Qazigund and injured him badly .

He said that the boy was taken to GMC Anantnag for treatment where from he has been refered to SKIMS Soura for treatment. Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation.  (KS)
