SRINAGAR: The Congress party unveiled its manifesto titled ‘Nyay Patra’ promising several key initiatives, including restoring full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir immediately

Also, they pledged to fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in central government posts, implement a 10 percent quota in jobs and educational institutions for economically weaker sections, adopt the Rajasthan model of cashless insurance for universal healthcare, and pass a constitutional amendment to raise the cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBC.

They also committed to conducting a nationwide socio-economic and caste census and guaranteed a new ‘right to apprenticeship act’ for diploma holders or graduates below 25.

Furthermore, the manifesto outlined plans for urban employment programs, abolishing the Agnipath program, and ensuring normal recruitment in the armed forces to achieve full sanctioned strength.

SRINAGAR: Congress on Thursday took out a rally in Srinagar to mark the first anniversary of “Bharat Jodo Yatra”.

A large number of Congress workers including women took part in the rally that was taken out from the Pradesh Congress Committee office at Moulana Azad road to Dalgate and was led by senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Tariq Karra.

Last year on this day Congress leader Rahul Gandhi started his “Bharat Jodo Yatra” from Kanyakumari to Kashmir valley that saw an unprecedented public support.

Kara talking to media persons said today’s rally in Srinagar was taken out on the aim “Judayga Bharat Jeetegi India”.
He said that the rally was taken out to counter the atmosphere of hatred that has been spread all across the country.

In a question Karra said following the visit of Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Yatra here, the people of Jammu and Kashmir today presume him as their “savior."

“If anybody could save the people of the country especially Jammu and Kashmir from the various troubles including economic, administrative or legal battles, that is Rahul Gandhi”, he added.

In another question, Kara said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are hopeful that the Supreme Court would deliver the verdict on Article 370 in their favour.
“We are very hopeful that the verdict would be in favour of us”, he said.

Regarding the “Bharat” and “India” controversy, Kara said “ it is a narrow thinking of some people”.
He said if an alliance has been named “INDIA” why would they (BJP) remove the name of India which has given the recognition to the country.

“Name India, Bharat and Hindustan are established in the constitution and have given recognition to the country”, he said and added “if common man complains that the constitution is being distorted..they are correct”. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: To express solidarity and support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his fight against politics of vendetta by Modi government, the Jammu and Kashmir Congress leadership on Wednesday held a day long silent satyagraha at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in Satwari area here.

Led by JKPCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani, the protest was attended by the senior leadership.
Carrying placards of slogans of' “Rahul Gandhi aage bado, hum tumhare sath hain, Daro mat' ', the leaders and activists bore black strips on their mouths and put a day long silent protest at the site.
Speaking to reporters, Rasool said that nationwide silent satyagraha is part of the continuous struggle to oppose and expose the vindictive politics of the Modi government and to protect democracy and the Constitution.
He said, “we express full support and solidarity to our leader Rahul Gandhi who is fighting the cause of the common man of the country and the politics of vendetta, pro rich and anti poor and anti youth policies of the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi.”
“The country is facing the worst inflation and unemployment in the country but modi government is busy in divisive and policies of polarisation for elections besides crushing every voice of dissent,” he said adding that the people of country are fed up and want change as is evident from ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and Karnataka and Himachal elections results.
“Rahul Gandhi was made the target for raising the issue of Adani in the Lok Sabha and questioning the Modi government. Our fight shall continue peacefully on the path of Mahatma Gandhi,” he said.
Working President Raman Bhalla said that the politics of vendetta being pursued by the Modi government against opposition leaders especially congress leadership and Rahul Gandhi shall be opposed tooth and nail and would be defeated.
He said, “Rahul Gandhi is fighting the cause of poor, unemployed and common man of the country as the Modi government wants to crush every voice of dissent and opposition against wrong policies of BJP. Rahul Gandhi is a fearless voice and a symbol of change and struggle.” (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Describing the routing of the BJP in Karnataka Assembly election as the "beginning of the end" of the saffron brigade before the 2024 Lok Sabha poll, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said when people want plurality and democratic forces to win, no "central design to dominate can repress" their spontaneity.

Talking to newsmen, who gathered in front of her residence at Kalighat here, Banerjee said, " It's a No Vote To BJP for its arrogance, intolerable behaviour and agency politics. "

"I salute the people of Karnataka, all the voters. I also salute the winners for their victory. Even Kumaraswamy did well. Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh elections are coming, and I think BJP will lose both elections," commented the Chief Minister. "Starting from South India to North India, the BJP is nowhere barring a few," she mentioned.

Banerjee also said she will support SP chief Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh to help fight the BJP. Saluting the people of Karnataka for their decisive mandate in favour of change, Banerjee iterated that "brute authoritarian and majoritarian politics is vanquished".

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday said the people of Karnataka have spoken just as the people of Bengal did in 2021 and the people of India will in 2024.

Stating that the "politics of hate" will be rejected every time, Banerjee said, " Prioritising development is an alien idea for @BJP4India, all they have to offer is communal propaganda. "

"The people of Karnataka have spoken, just as the people of Bengal did in 2021 and the people of India will in 2024!, " he said adding, " No Vote To BJP, which was raised in West Bengal in 2021 Assembly election, was echoed in Karnataka too. "

Harping on opposition UNITY against DIVISIVE tactics, Banerjee said, " The anti-BJP votes must not be split between the opposition parties. They must fend off the BJP in their respective turfs. "

"Political differences aside, defeating @BJP4India must be the priority, " quipped Banerjee.

The Congress juggernaut literally mowed down the saffron brigade in Karnataka, wresting power from the BJP to be in the saddle. (UNI)
