SRINAGAR: Cotinuing its action against drug peddlers, Police in Baramulla attached properties (Single storied residential house & double storied shopping complex with two separate washrooms, worth approx. Rs.60.00 lacs) belonging to  notorious drug peddlers namely Mohd Ayoob Shah & Ghulam Mohammad Shah @ Gulshah both sons of Abdul Khaliq resident of Ladoora Rafiabad, District Baramulla.

The action was taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with case FIR No. 18/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Baramulla.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic substances by the drug peddlers.

This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of Police.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested five drug peddlers and recovered from their possession contraband, in two districts of Anantnag and Kulgam. 

"Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police busted a drug module by arresting three members of a family in Anantnag and recovered a huge consignment of contraband/ psychotropic substance from their possession", reads a statement issued to GNS. 

"Police in Anantnag received an information through reliable sources that a family comprising (Father, Mother and Son) namely Mohd Ramzan Ganai son of Gh Rasool Ganie, Shahzada Akhter wife of Mohd Ramzan Ganie and Zubair Ramzan Ganai son of Mohd Ramzan Ganie, residents of Seer Hamdan Mattan under a well-planned criminal conspiracy are continuously indulging in illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as of cannabis charas powder.  Reliable sources also revealed that the trio has concealed a huge quantity of illicit alcohol as well as illicit cannabis charas powder in specially made hideouts in their residential house, Swift Dzire Car, Baleno car and Motor Cycle", the statement reads. 

"In this regard, a case FIR No. 04/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in the Police Station Mattan and investigation was initiated."

"Accordingly, a search team comprising Anantnag Police and Executive Magistrate concerned raided the spot. During the search of the house, the police party recovered about 9.27 Kgs of Charas powder and 867 Bottles of illicit alcohol which was seized on the spot. All three accused persons were arrested.  Vehicles Swift Dzire, Baleno car, KTM Motorcycle and cash amount of Rs. 13325 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics) was seized. Further investigation in the instant case is going on", reads the statement. 

Similarly, JK Police in Kulgam arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

"A police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund along with Incharge PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop Chowk intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK14B-2204 with two people on board. They have been identified as Aabid Hussain Peer son of Peer Sirajudin resident of Soaf Shali, Anantnag and Sohail Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Abass Wani resident of Dhamal Anantnag. During checking, officers were able to recover 05 grams of Heroin like contraband substance from their possession", reads a statement issued here. 

Both persons, as per the statement, were arrested and shifted to PS where they remain in custody. A vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

"Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated."

"We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. A police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Dewanbagh near Grid Station intercepted one lady, police said on Wednesday.

During the search, 60 grams of a contraband brown sugar-like substance were recovered from her possession. She was identified as Afroza Begum, alias Afree, a resident of Ganie Hamam Baramulla, presently staying at Hygam Sopore.

She had been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla, where she remains in custody, police said.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Sharai Tangmarg intercepted two people. During their search, 65 grams of contraband Charas-like substances were recovered from their possession.

The duo were identified as Bashir Ahmad Magray, a resident of Drooru, and Javid Ahmad Ganie of Shrai. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tangmarg, where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at police stations Baramulla and Tangmarg, and investigations have been initiated. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district and contraband substances were recovered from their possession, police said on Saturday.

They said a police party of Police Station Kunzer intercepted a person identified as Nazir Ahmad Malik alias SP, a resident of Wanigam at a checkpoint established at Chandil Wanigam, Baramulla.

“During search, 110 grams of contraband Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession,” a police statement said.

They said during questioning he confessed that he had brought contraband substances from one lady Afroza Begum of Sari Mohalla Singhpora Pattan.

“Upon his disclosure, a Police Party alongwith Magistrate rushed to the house of said lady and was apprehended. Contraband Charas like substances weighing 140 grams was also recovered from her possession,” police said.

Similarly, a police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Drangbal, Baramulla intercepted one person identified as Abdul Majeed Mir of Bagh-i-Islam Baramulla.
“During search, 265 grams of contraband Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession,” police said.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Kunzer & Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.

Police in Baramulla had urged the common masses that if they witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere , they should feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said to have booked a notorious drug peddler from central Kashmir’s Budgam district under stringent Public Safety Act. 

“Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police have booked one notorious drug peddler under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority”, said a spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS. 

Identifying the accused as Fayaz Ahmed Ganie son of Late Abdul Ahad Ganie resident of Hanjibugh Magam, the spokesperson said the booked notorious drug peddler has been detained and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. 

The said drug peddler, the spokesperson said, was involved in several NDPS cases registered in various police stations of the district and was promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of District Budgam. 

“Despite his involvement in many FIRs, the drug peddler did not mend his activities”, maintained the statement. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Last year, over 44,000 drug addicts in a bid to de-addict themselves from drug addiction visited Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.
 
  Incharge Drug De-addiction Centre SMHS Hospital, Dr Yasir Rather informed that over 44000 patients visited SMHS hospital to get treatment for drug addiction during the year 2022. And all of these patients were given free treatment in the hospital.
  
“Free treatment is given to drug victims at the deaddiction centre of SMHS Hospital. There has been a significant decrease in drug victim arrivals in the hospital possibly because of the strict measures taken by police and civil administration in Srinagar,” he said.
  
Another doctor at the de-addiction centre told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drug suppliers and traffickers and drugs are not now easily available in the open market. He added that a SKIMS Bemina, over 1500 affected patients have been given treatment at the Centre.
 
 Police sources said that 20 cases have been registered so far in Srinagar and 50 peddlers have been detained under Public Safety Act for dealing in the narco trade. In addition, 13.42 grams of brown sugar, 684.33 grams of heroin, and 3.36 Kgs of charas, besides 4734 psychotropic tablets and 38 bottles have been recovered from the peddlers in Srinagar. (KNT)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered heroin from their possession in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.

Police said that Police Station Sogam in two separate cases have arrested four persons and recovered 315 grams of heroin-like narcotics from them.
Police said one Javid Ahmad Mir, a resident of Darpora and Arshid Ahmad Bhat of Badibera Lolab were arrested during routine market checking from Sogam when the duo was looking for customers to sell the narcotics.
Sensing police presence, both were trying to conceal the consignment but were apprehended before they could succeed in their nefarious design, police said.
In another incident two notorious drug peddlers of Sopore area were arrested along with heroin like narcotics from Wavoora market of Police Station Sogam when both had come to sell the narcotics there.
The duo were Identified as Hilal Ahmad Malla, a resident of Malmapanpora Sopore and Mudasir Ahmad Sofi of Botingo Sopore. Both were arrested during checking at Wavoora Market, Sogam they were found lurking around with a polythene bag in suspicious condition and tried to flee from the spot upon seeing the police party.
Upon search of the polythene bag, a heroin-like narcotics substance was recovered, the police added.
Two separate cases under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic SubstanceS (NDPS) Act have been registered in Police Station Sogam and investigation set into motion. (UNI)

SRINAGAR:  Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a burglary case by arresting two persons and recovered stolen property from them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police Post Palhallan received a complaint on March 25 from one Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Tantraypora Palhallan, Pattan that some unknown burglars entered into his residential house Saturday night and stole copper utensils, police said.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered at and investigation was initiated with the help of technical and human resources.

Police said “some suspects were picked up and one among them identified as Khursheed Ahmad Waza a resident of Tantraypora Palhallan confessed that he along with his accomplice identified as Tanveer Ahmad Reshi, a resident of New Colony Palpora Pattan, committed the theft.”

Subsequently, the other accused Tanveer was also arrested for his involvement in the commission of crime.

"On their disclosure, stolen property was recovered from them. They are in police custody," police said.

SRINAGAR: Police on Sunday arrested four drug peddlers in different parts of Kashmir valley and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police said it intercepted in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district a suspicious person at a checkpoint established near Nippora crossing on NHW-44.

During his search 4Kgs of ground Cannabis, 50 grams of Cannabis Powder, and 80 grams of Charas-like substance concealed in a gunny bag were recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Imran Malik, a resident of Khaloora, Devsar.

Similarly, a police party at a checkpoint established at village Ahmadabad in the same district intercepted a suspicious person and recovered 3 Kg of Poppy Straw and 120 grams of Charas-like substance concealed in a Nylon Sac from his possession. He has been identified as Gull Mohammad Najar, a resident of Ahmadabad.

A Police Party in the Pulwama district arrested one drug peddler in a suspicious condition at Beighpora crossing along with 600 grams of Charas Powder-like substance. The accused has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, a resident of Beighpora.

In Handwara, a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Panditpora intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.

During the search, around 29 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Lateef Ahmad Mir, a resident of Langate.

All the accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered and further investigations have been initiated, police added. (UNI)
