SRINAGAR: Police and paramilitary CRPF on Saturday recovered  rusted explosives including a few grenades and bullets in Rajouri district, officials said.

They told GNS that the rusted explosives were recovered from a riverlet in Darhal Chokian area of Rajouri following an information. Later a Police party from police station Drahal  and  CRPF rusthed to spot and recovered the explosives. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A rusted mortar shell was found during construction in the Surankote area of Poonch district, officials said.

They said that the shell was found near Gurudwara Surankote  and subsequently army  and Police Surankote rushed to the spot.

The shell was later taken away from residential areas by Army’s BDS and destroyed near Suran river, they added.
A police officer confirmed it to GNS and said that a case has been registered in this regard. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Saturday recovered a mine and other material in the Galhuti area of Rajouri district.

Officials told GNS that army's 49 RR at Galhuti recovered some explosive material during routine search in Galhuti area.

The explosive material recovered includes one 14nmm Live mine, two non-rechargeable 12 V batteries and two oil filters (Make-Kirloskar).(GNS)

SRINAGAR: At least nine passengers were hospitalized with injuries after a vehicle they were on board fell from a cliff at Manjakote area in Rajouri, officials said on Saturday evening.

They told GNS that a Matador vehicle bearing registration number JK11 5057, fell from a cliff at Guglinar, Kakora in Manjakote. 

In the incident, they said, nine on board passengers identified as Gul Hussain (70) son of Feroz Di, Mohammad Waseem (26) son of Mohammad Razzaq, Khadim Hussain (65) son of Abdul Khan, Rukhsana Kouser (25) wife of Mohammad Younis, Zaifan (5) son of Mohammad Younis, Mohammad Shabir (28) son of Gul Hussain, Abid Hussain (11) son of Mohammad Naseer, Sobia Kauser (20) daughter of Mushtaq Hussain - all residents of Guglinar Kakora and Kulzam Begum wife of Mohammad Rafiq of Tandwal, sustained injuries.

"All the injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital", the official added.

Meanwhile a police official has also confirmed to GNS about the incident. "Cognisance has been taken for investigations", the official added. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Army troops on Friday averted a major tragedy by recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police sources said that army troops while patrolling, recovered an IED in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district.

"The patrolling party defused the device and averted a major tragedy in the area," they said. (UNI)
