SRINAGAR: Crime Branch Srinagar has nabbed a notorious fraudster and cheater from Pattan in Baramulla district. 

"On 03.11.2023 Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch, Srinagar nabbed  a notorious fraudster and cheater namely Manzoor Hussain Qadri son of Gh Hassan Qadri resident of Poshwani Pattan Tehsil Baramulla from Sanatnagar area of Srinagar", reads a statement issued to GNS.

"The accused, a habitual offender, was wanted in multiple cases of cheating and fraud and had been evading his arrest. The modus operandi of the subject being that he used to lure gullible  youth from various areas to provide/manage government jobs for them and extort huge amounts from them by deceitful means, thus indulging in cheating as well as other crimes", reads the statement. 

"He always looked for ways to mint money by illegal means and had caused huge losses to the victims. A special team of Special Crime Wing Srinagar (Crime Branch Kashmir), which had been assiduously working on tracing the conman, succeeded in apprehending him."

The accused, the statement reads, has a history of criminal charges under various Case FIRs pending against him.
In case FIR No. 36/2014 U/S 420,468,120-B RPC of P/S CBK, the accused is involved in grabbing an amount of Rs. 23.00 lacks from the complainants on the pretext of engaging various persons of Jammu and Poonch etc in Govt. Jobs and gave fake appointment orders to them etc.  

"The investigation is in the said case is under progress. 
In case FIR No. 65/2016 u/s 420, 468, 109 RPC of P/S CBK,  the accused is involved in  providing appointment orders in respect of some candidates, which were later on found to be fake and forged. The investigation in the said case is under progress. In case FIR No. 05/2017 U/S 419, 420, 468, 471, 34 RPC P/S CBK, the accused was found involved in issuance of a fake and forged appointment  order bearing NO. 511 of FD/2013 dated 17.03.2013 of Forest Department, purported to have been issued by Commissioner Secretary Forests Civil Secretariat, Srinagar."

"The investigation of the instant case has been closed as proved and the charge sheet thereof presented before the Hon’ble court of Special Mobile Magistrate 13th Finance Srinagar, on 30.06.2022 against him", reads the statement.

"In case FIR No. 42/2023 u/s 420,468 RPC of P/S EOW, the accused is involved in providing a fake appointment order bearing No: 741 dated 23.06.2012 and a fake Departmental Identity Card to the complainant for an amount of Rs. 2.15 lakh.  The investigation in the said case is under progress", reads the statement. 

"In case FIR No. 51/2023 u/s 420,468, 471 RPC of P/S EOW, the accused has cheated the complainants  for an amount of Rs. 15 Lacs on the promise of providing them with government jobs and instead provided them with fake appointment orders of Agriculture Department and Forest Department. The investigation in the said case is under progress", reads the statement. 

"In case FIR No. 52/2023 U/S 420,68,471 RPC of P/S EOW, the accused has cheated the complainant by promising him that he would manage to get his sons appointed in the Forest Department for which the complainant gave an amount of Rs. 14.50 lacs to the accused, which was grabbed. The investigation is in the said case is under progress."

The accused, the statement reads, has been lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu under PSA, in  compliance to PSA detention warrant issued by District Magistrate Srinagar. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday evening said that it have arrested a fraudster for duping students in disguise of MBBS admission Iran.

In a couple of tweets, The Srinagar police on its social media handle wrote, "A fraudster Syed Abas shah S/o Syed Yousuf Shah R/o wahabpora Budgam running educational consultancy ‘Dr Minds’ at parraypora in lieu of payment. FIR no. 65/2023 u/sections 468,420 of IPC in sadder PS,".

"Students got to know of cheating & forgery after landing in Tehran & spending months there without any admission even after paying in lakhs to this Fraudster. Public is requested not to fall prey to such fraudsters running consultanties and duping students, job aspirants etc, reads the tweets.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: A fraudster from Srinagar has been arrested and booked under PSA for fraud, human trafficking and child labour and cheating.

Srinagar police in a tweet as per the news agency, Kashmir Scroll said that one fraudster identified as Rizwan Ahmad Shah of Safakadal Srinagar, Owner of Shah Ji Consultancy, Rajbagh haa been booked in PSA and lodged in Kot Balwal Jail. He had done fraud, human trafficking, child labour, cheating, police said, adding that public is advised to check credentials of consultancies for hiring domestic helps.

SRINAGAR: A fraudster was arrested on pretext of cheating for providing job in Saudi Arabia. An official told news agency, Kashmir Scroll that one fraudster namely Sameer Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Beerwah Budgam arrested.

He cheated many aspirants on the pretext of employment in Saudi Arabia, he said, adding that some female aspirants also alleged him using inappropriate words. FIR no 40/23 u/s 420,354,294,506 of IPC has been registered in Sadar PS and further investigation has been taken up, he said. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar has ordered “preliminary enquiry” into an application by a resident of Rambagh Srinagar, alleging defrauding of Rs 18 Lakh by three persons including Kiranbhai Patel who posed as a PMO official and enjoyed high security protocols prior to his arrested last month.

“From the contents of application as well as from the material on record, it appears that the complainant has been cheated by the accused and on false pretentions has been made to pay amount of Rs 18 lakhs in two installments at Pratap Park Srinagar and Chai Jai Restaurant Srinagar,” court of City Judge Srinagar said. 

“In view of the nature of allegations leveled against the accused, it appears that cause of justice will be reserved if concerned police station is directed to conduct detailed P.E (preliminary enquiry) before formal investigation for veracity of the facts projected in the application,” the court said in an order, a copy of which lies with GNS, and directed the SHO of Police Station Kothibagh to conduct preliminary enquiry in the matter and submit detailed report before it by or before the next date on April 15. The two other persons named in the compliant include Shailesh Jain and Piyush Jain, both residents of Kolkata.  

According to the complaint filed through advocate Amir Masoodi, Patel revealed his name as Chetan Prakash resident of Begumpur, North West Delhi and projected himself as managing partner at the particular company dealing in areca nuts.  

The resident has alleged that he paid Rs.18 lakhs in two installments following the interactions with Patel at Pratap Park Srinagar and at the Chai Jai restaurant in Srinagar last year.

Patel was arrested on March 2 for posing as a senior official in the Prime Minister's Office. He had managed to get Z-category security protocol during his visits to the valley and attended several official meetings. Patel had also visited many sensitive areas, including the Line of Control in Uri sector. 

Pertinently, on March 29, the government ordered inquiry into the various aspects related to the visits of “Shri Kiran Patel” who conned the security establishment in J&K into believing him to be a PMO official and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time prior to his arrest.

The inquiry is being conducted by Divisional Commissioner Srinagar and he is required to submit a report within a week. (GNS)
