SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed and another injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into 250 feet gorge in Doda district on Monday, offcials said.

They said a load carrier (Tata Mobile- JK06B-1533) met with the accident on Tanta-Gundna road, leading to on the spot death of two persons and injuries to driver, Aqib Gulzar, who was removed to GMC Doda hospital by rescuers during the midnight.

The deceased have been identified as Mir Ali son of Noor of Kunthal and Zafarullah son of Talib Hussain of Dandi Bala.

Confirming it, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigation taken. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh each for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in a bus accident in Assar, Doda.

He has also approved an amount of Rs1 lakh for those injured and assured all possible assistance to the affected families.

At least 36 passengers were killed and 19 others injured when a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into 300-feet deep gorge in Jammu Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday.

“An ex-gratia of Rs5 Lakh each would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate bus accident in Assar, Doda. Rs 1 Lakh would be given to those injured. J&K UT Administration will provide every possible assistance to the affected families”, Lt Governor tweeted on X. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: A driver lost his life after his tipper he was driving skidded off the road in Pul Doda area of Jammu division on Saturday.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that driver identified as Manzoor Ahmad son of Gh Mustafa resident of Belli area of Doda received critical injuries after his tipper skidded off the road.

He said that Manzoor was shifted to GMC Doda in critical condition, however, he was declared brought dead on arrival.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation.(KS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Wednesday claimed to have busted a hideout in the forest area of Doda district.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a hideout was busted by security forces at the Dewachan Gwadi forest area in the Bhaderwah area of Doda.

They said that in the operation, arms and ammunition were recovered.(KS) More Details Awaited

SRINAGAR: A younger has killed his elder brother over some land dispute in Doda district of Jammu division on Saturday.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a younger brother identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Nazir Ahmad attacked his elder brother Ishtiyaq Ahmad over some land dispute.

"In the incident, Ishtiyaq received injuries and he was shifted to SDH Gundwah from where he was referred to GMC Doda where he succumbed to injuries," he added.

He added that Ishtiyaq was working as teacher while Imtiyaz is Special Police Officer of J&K Police.

Meanwhile, Police have taken cognizance of the incident and two persons have been already arrested in this regard while further investigation has been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: A man was injured in a bear attack in Doda village of Jammu region on Wednesday, officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll (KS) that a man identified as Dimple Kumar of Partoye was attacked by a bear at Khellani Nallah; however, he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was shifted to GMC Doda for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, police took cognizance of this incident. (KS)
