LG To Take Salute in Jammu, Advisor to LG in Srinagar for R-Day Celebrations

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will take salute at Main function at Maulana Azad Stadium Jammu while Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will preside over the celebrations at Srinagar.

The DDC Chairpersons’, as per an order copy available with GNS, will take salute at main function in respective district headquarters’.

The SDM/Tehsildar/Senior most civil officer to be nominated by the Deputy Commissioner concerned at respective sub-divisional/tehsil/municipal headquarters. (GNS)

BJP in Srinagar Celebrate Party’s Resounding victory in Assembly Elections in Three States

SRINAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Srinagar on Monday celebrated the party’s resounding victory in three states in the Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

BJP clinched significant victories in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh with unwavering trust and support of the people in the BJP's vision and leadership.

BJP leaders and workers assembled at party headquarters in Srinagar and burst firecrackers and distributed sweets on the victory of the party.

Party leaders and supporters converged in an atmosphere brimming with enthusiasm and joy raising slogans of "Teen Pe Bazi Mari Ha Ab Kashmir Ki Bari Ha" (We have won three; now it's Kashmir's turn).

Expressing gratitude to the voters for their overwhelming mandate, the BJP leadership acknowledged the responsibility bestowed upon the party to uphold the trust placed in them. These victories underscore the BJP's commitment to inclusive governance, development, and progress in every region it represents, a party statement said.

“Looking ahead with determination and optimism, the BJP sets its sights on serving the people of Kashmir”, the statement reads.

The party aims to engage with the populace, understand their concerns, and strive to bring progress and development to the region, aligning with the ideals of a united, prosperous India, it said. (UNI)

Guru Nank Jayanti Celebrated With Religious Fervour in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in Kashmir valley on Monday.

The largest function was held at the Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi in Rainawari Srinagar where a large number of Sikhs including men, women and children thronged to pay obeisance despite cold weather conditions.

Special prayers were offered for the peace, stability and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and the whole of India during the occasion.

The day was celebrated with fervour in other parts of the Valley as well, including Tral, Baramulla and Pulwama.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his greetings on Prakash parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

“Guru Ji's profound message of equality, brotherhood, truthfulness & compassion continues to guide & inspire the world. Let's on this day, resolve to follow his noble teachings & rededicate ourselves to the cause of humanity”, Sinha said.

National Conference President and Member of Parliament Farooq Abdullah and party Vice President Omar Abdullah also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj's Jayanti.

"I greet people especially our Sikh Brethren on the observance of the birthday of the revered Guru Ji. May the day increase the prospects of peace and brotherhood in J&K and further the cause of camaraderie”, Farooq said.

Omar Abdullah said, "Guru Nanak's teachings for an honest, truthful and virtuous life continue to guide humanity. His message inspires us to embrace equality and compassion, Happy Guru Purab."

“On Guru Nanak Jayanti, may the divine teachings of Guru Nanak illuminate our path with wisdom and kindness. JKPDP extends warm wishes to all on this auspicious occasion”, Mehbooba Mufti said on X.

Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police R R Swain visited the Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi in Rainawari Srinagar and paid obeisance there. He also greeted the people on the occasion.

All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while extending his greetings on the occasion said that people should follow teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji so that his message of love and peace percolates down.

Many political and social activists also greeted the people, especially the Sikh community on the occasion in Kashmir valley. (UNI)

40 Persons Injured As Footbridge Collapses Whilst Baisakhi Celebrations

SRINAGAR: At least forty persons were injured after a footbridge collapsed during Baisakhi celebrations in Udhampur district on Friday afternoon, officials said.

They told GNS that that a steel footbridge collapsed at Beni Sangam in Bain village in Udhampur when a large chunk of locals were over it in connection with Baisakhi festival celebrations in the area.

The injured persons have been evacuated from the site to a nearby hospital, where all of them are said to be responding well to the treatment, the official said. (GNS)

J&K Sports Council Celebrates International Women's Day

SRINAGAR: International Women's Day celebrations were held at Indoor Sports Complex Polo-ground Srinagar here today. Hundreds of female athletes accompanied by their families participated in the programme. Athletes from various districts were also part of the programme including a good number of Khelo India Centre registered trainees as well, accompanied by the mentors. The programme began with the demo by players from the games of Pencak Silat, Yogasana, Thang Ta, Sqay Martial Art who had also participated in the events including Khelo India. The Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat Farooq presided over the function as chief guest while as Kabra Altaf, member J&K Sports Council was the guest of honour on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Nuzhat Farooq said that women have immensely contributed in making a robust and pragmatic society and that this programme is just a token of appreciation and gratitude to all the women for the different roles they are playing with perfection. Female athletes and others highlighted the experience and contribution they are making for upliftment of society on various levels and brought attention towards the value addition that they as women have made in different fields. The chief guest felicitated women achievers on the occasion and presented certificates and roses to them.
