SRINAGAR: Another unidentified militant  has been killed taking toll to two after security forces foiled a Infiltration bid in Sahura Nala area of Uri in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

A top official told GNS that two militants has been killed, one body recovered so far in the firefight.

He further said that Searches in the area are underway.

Earlier, during wee hours, movement of militants were detected. Infiltraters were challenged by the security forces, leading to a firefight.

During firefight one militant was killed, whose identity was not yet ascertained, he said.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: At least four persons sustained injuries in a road accident in Garkote area in Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. 

An official told GNS that four persons were injured after a Toyota car, bearing registration number JK054 6384, skidded off a road and rolled down at least 200 mtr. down into a gorge in Upper Garkote. 

Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched at the site and four persons evacuated from the site to a nearby hospital. 

Among the four, two injured were referred to GMC Baramulla and two others to SKIMS Soura for preferential treatment. 

Confirming it, BMO Uri Balwinder Singh told GNS that the  injured persons have been referred to other hospitals due to the serious nature of their injuries. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two persons, injured in a road accident in Baramulla's Uri, have succumbed to their injuries, taking the death count to 10.

Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr Ruby told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two more injured persons succumbed to their injuries late last night. 

She said that they were referred to SKIMS Soura last night, where they succumbed to their injuries 

They have been identified as Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Gani and Shabir Ahmed son of Mohammed Abdullah--both residents of Bujithallan.

Eight persons were killed, while seven were injured after a vehicle skidded off and fell into a deep gorge in Baramulla's Boniyar on Wednesday evening. (KNO)

SRINAGAR: Two unidentified militants have been killed as an Infiltration was foiled by Security forces in Uri Sector of North Kashmir's Baramulla district, on Wednesday.

A top police officer told GNS that two militants have been killed as an Infiltration was foiled by joint team of Police and army in Uri sector.

Meanwhile The Kashmir Police Zone wrote on X Platform, "Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the URI sector along the LOC. Further details shall follow,".(GNS)

SRINAGAR: Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid and have so far killed an intruder along Line of Control in Uri sector, officials said.

Officials sources told Kashmir Scroll that on receiving inputs of a possible infiltration bid, the alert army soldiers upped the vigil along Line of Control in Uri sector.

"The alert army personnel in the course of time intercepted and gunned down a militant", they said adding the operation in the area is currently underway. (KS)

SRINAGAR: An unidentified militant has been killed in a gunfight at Hathlanga area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, an official said.

A senior police officer while confirming to GNS that one militant has been killed, whose identity is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

As the joint team of forces zeroed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired on the joint team, which was retaliated triggering off a gunfight. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A JCO received minor injuries as infiltration bid was foiled in Uri area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Saturday morning officials said that an infiltration bid by militants was foiled in the Uri sector of Baramulla. There was an exchange of fire between militants and own troops,they said that Pakistan side tried to fly a quadcopter over the incident site but on being fired at by the Indian side it quickly withdrew. In the incident one JCO has received injuries who has been shifted to hospital for treatment, they said. They said that search operation is underway in the area and further investigation has been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: At least seven persons were injured in a road accident in Uri area of North Kashmir Baramulla district on Tuesday.

An official said that the accident took place at Gunpost Nambla between two vehicles Alto Bearing registration number JK05J-8290 and Tata Punch bearing registration number JK05L-3712 resulting in injuries to seven persons. They have identified as Rehnaz Banu, Sameena, Afshana, Syed Ishtiyak, Bashir Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi and Mohammad Sharif who all are residents of Uri area. He said that all injured were shifted to SDH Uri for first aid where from two injured person were referred to GMC Baramulla for treatment. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigation. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Residents of the Lagama area of the frontier Uri in north Kashmir's Baramulla district Thursday joined hands to protest against the establishment of a liquor shop on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.

Talking to GNS, a protester said, “On one hand, the government is attempting to eliminate the drug menace from society, while on the other hand, they are making the drugs easily accessible by opening a wine shop in the area.”

The protesters, who comprised of people from both Hindu and Muslim communities, stated that they do not want their children to become drug addicts, which is why they have come out on the streets. 

Another protester mentioned that a mosque and a temple were situated right opposite to the proposed site of a liquor shop, which they said would hurt their religious sentiments.

The residents have expressed their dissatisfaction towards the response by the relevant authorities about the issue. 

"We request the administration led by the Lieutenant Governor to personally intervene and prevent the concerned department from opening the shop in the area", they said. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two residential houses were damaged by heavy landslides due to incessant rains in Nambla Uri, reports said on Wednesday.

They said houses belong to Showket Shah son of Yousuf Shah and his Son Mustaq Shah at Silpather Nambla Uri.

Mustaq Ahmad Shah told GNS that on 28 April his house was damaged due to landslides and last night his father’s house was also damaged due to Landslides. He accused PMGSY of negligence, saying that road construction in their area was started in 2017 but is still to be completed.

He said the department did not construct protection walls on road and many families continue to face the threat of damage due to landslides.  

AEE PMGSY Uri Kursheed Ahmad Mir denied any negligence and told GNS that huge landslides occurred in the area due to incessant rains.

Meanwhile Tehsildar Uri Rayees Ahmad told GNS that a team of revenue department visited spot and assessed the losses. He said officials of PMGSY department were also called on the spot. He further said people of the area were asked to remain cautious. (GNS)
