Seven- Member OGW Module Busted in Budgam: Police

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said to have busted an over-the-ground-worker module in Beerwah of central Kashmir's Budgam district.

"The Budgam Police has dismantled a module comprising seven individuals from the Beerwah area. These individuals were involved in the dissemination of anti-national terrorist propaganda by affixing posters in and around the Beerwah area", said a police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS.

The arrested persons, as per the statement, have been identified as Romain Rasool Sheikh Irfan Nazir Sheikh, Rizwan Nazir Sheikh, Sahil Javid Sheikh all resident of Bonet Beerwah, Jahangir Bashir Mir, Tariq Ashraf Sheikh, both residents of Utligam Beerwah and Shakir Lateef Pathan, resident of Gandhipora, Beerwah.

"The module was led by Romain Rasool Sheikh and Irfan Nazir Sheikh, who during investigation were found manipulated by a LeT’s Pakistani handler", the statement reads.

"It further emerged that the duo, acting as local motivators, instructed the other five individuals to carry out the assigned tasks", reads the statement adding incriminating evidence has been recovered from the apprehended persons.

"Investigation in the case is in progress", the statement read. (GNS)

SIA Team Raids Premises of OGWs In Udhampur, Jammu Districts

SRINAGAR: The sleuths of State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday conducted simultaneous raids on the residential premises of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in Udhampur and Jammu districts.

SIA spokesman said that on the basis of intelligence inputs, Jammu SIA conducted simultaneous searches in four different locations in the residential premises of Over Ground Workers and helpers of terrorists groups in tehsil Basantgarh in district Udhampur and Jammu district.

The spokesman added that inputs further reveled that the border guide and OGWs are using different mabile apps for calling and passing vital information to Pakistan based terrorists and handlers as well as terrorists groups.

"The Pakistan based handlers and terrorists groups are desperate to revive the terrorist activities in the hinterland of Jammu and Kashmir," the spokesman said adding that on this reports SIA team obtained search warrant from the court and conducted searches in the residential premises of suspected persons.

The raids were conducted in the houses of Nazir Ahmed, Mohd Rafiq and Altaf Hussan, all residents of Basantgarh, District Udhampur and Mohd Iqbal, resident of Peer Bagh Colony, Sunjawan, Jammu.

The spokesman said that during searches, electric gadgets, relevant documents etc were recovered, adding, "the searches were conducted in presence of executive magistrate and with the active participation of district police Udhampur and Jammu." (UNI)

NIA Arrests Two OGWs During Probe of Terror Conspiracy Case

SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested two alleged Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its shadow outfit “The Resistance Front” (TRF) during the probe of terror conspiracy case.

The arrests came on the heels of a series of raids conducted by the NIA at the residential premises of OGWs of the banned militant organizations and their newly-floated offshoots and affiliates in recent days.

The NIA had seized several digital devices during the raids, which were scrutinized by the agency, as part of its investigations in the case.

The NIA identified the duo arrested as 20-year –old Mushaib Fayaz Baba alias Shoaib and Hilal Yaqoob Deva alias Sethi Soab, 35 both residents of Shopian district of J&K.
They said the duo were working for Pak-based Commanders and handlers of proscribed terrorist organizations, such as LeT and TRF.

“Investigations have revealed that two accused arrested today were in continuous contact with Pakistan-based Commanders and active members of various terrorist outfits through social media applications. They were working as OGWs of the terrorists, and had been actively involved in transporting weapons and funds from one place to another, on the directions of Pak based Commanders/handlers, as part of a bigger conspiracy,” the NIA spokesperson said.
It added that the conspiracy had been hatched by cadres and OGWs of various proscribed terrorist organizations in cohort with their Commanders based in Pakistan.

These cadres and OGWs were actively involved in the collection and distribution of huge consignments of narcotics, cash, small arms/weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other types of IEDs, including remote-controlled sticky bombs / magnetic bombs. Such terrorist hardware and IEDs are either delivered over drones or also assembled locally, for terrorist attacks in J&K, investigations have revealed.

The terror conspiracy was aimed at disturbing peace and communal harmony by carrying out terrorist acts and waging a war against the Government of India.

As per NIA investigations, the terrorist outfits were involved in targeting of minorities, migrants and security personnel etc. The conspiracy had been hatched both physically and through cyberspace, by using secured encrypted social media apps. (UNI)
