SRINAGAR: School Education Department has cancelled the recognition of a private school of Foundation World School, Mamat, Budgam for not ‘cooperating and implementing’ orders from competent authorities.

Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) in a order said that the Chief Education Officer Budgam has intimated that the enquiry committee constituted by him approached the school management for ascertaining factual position.

The directorate also said that the concerned school management however kept the enquiry officers along with CEO Budgam waiting from 10 am to 5.30pm on February 24, 2024.

The CEO Budgam has also intimated that the concerned school management provided documents and material not up to the mark and without seal and signature due to which committee could not ascertain the factual position owing to the non cooperation of the School Management,” it reads.

DSEK further said that the Principal of BHSS Budgam who was departmental representative has informed that the school management of the concerned school has not shown any inclination towards considering or implementing suggestions.

“The school has never taken the departmental representative on board for the official business of the school till date which is mandatory as per standing norms,” it reads.

DSEK further said that both the officers have recommended strict action to be taken against the Foundation World School, Mamat, Budgam.

“It has been frequently observed that the management of Foundation World School, Mamat, Budgam, does not implement the instructions issued by competent authorities from time to time, thus reflecting an anarchist and rebellious attitude of the school management,” DSEK said.

It further said that the delinquent attitude exhibited by the management of Foundation World School, Mamat, Budgam is highly objectionable and has been taken seriously by DSEK.

“The persistent delinquency by the school authorities necessitates immediate action to be initiated against the Institution. Therefore, in view of matter, the recognition issued in favour of the school is withdrawn with immediate effect,” reads the order.

SRINAGAR: Police and army on Monday recovered an old rusted shell near primary school Narol in Mendhar Sector in Poonch district, officials said. 

They told GNS a villager of  Noral spotted the shell and  telephonically informed Police Station Mendhar about it. Immediately, they said, a police party rushed to the spot while army was also informed to destroy the shell. Subsequently, the shell was recovered, they added. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a case into a bomb hoax at an educational institution in Jammu. 

Informed about an alleged call made by an unknown person claiming to have planted a bomb inside an educational institution, security forces and BDS' reached site at Residency road Jammu this morning. 

However the threat later turned out to be a hoax, the Police informed through micro-blogging site 'X'. 

Taking a cognisance of the hoax call, the Police said they have filed a case in this regard for further investigations. 

“Jammu Police acted swiftly on bomb threat by an unknown caller to one private school. Police conducted extensive search and sanitised area. The threat turned out to be hoax and FIR has been registered,” police wrote on 'X'. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Tuesday ordered change in the school timing within the municipality limits of Srinagar from June 22.

DSEK through an official communique has said that all government and private recognized schools within the municipal limits of Srinagar city shall observe school timings from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM from June 22. 

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Wednesday ordered change in the school timing within the municipality limits of Srinagar from June Ist.

According to the news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DSEK in a communique has said, “Consequent upon the approval conveyed by the Administrative Department, all government and private recognized schools within the municipal limits of Srinagar city shall observe school timings from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM from June Ist.” (KNO)

SRINAGAR:  Police have arrested a youth accused of injuring two of his fellow students with a knife in Beehama area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

 “Today around 3 pm in the afternoon, a scuffle broke out between two groups of boys of Dreamland school, Beehama, Ganderbal wherein one student (one student) of Bandybagh, Ganderbal attacked two fellow students by sharp object/knife resulting  injuries to both of them. The injured students were identified as Hidayat Ahmed and Ibrahim Ahmed, both the residents of Beehama, Ganderbal”, reads a police statement issued to GNS.

 “Soon after the incident, both the injured students were shifted to SKIMS for treatment. (Student) who attacked his fellow students fled away from the spot. On this incident FIR No. 116/2023 was registered under relevant sections in Police station Ganderbal.”

 “A team was constituted under the supervision of DSP PC Ganderbal and deputed to arrest the accused, after strenuous efforts Police team caught the accused near Baroosa”, reads the statement.

 “During investigation it came fore that the incident took place over minor issues and some more students were involved in scuffle. (The attacker) who is a student of class 12th of Dreamland school has been aggressive since the beginning and as per school principal he was involved in multiple fights with other students in the past”, reads the statement.

 “With all the legal procedures and formalities the delinquent will be produced before Juvenile Board and other students who were involved in the scuffle will also be brought and produced before the Board”, the statement reads further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: School time lifting of garbage by Srinagar Municipal Corporation causes traffic mess in Lal Bazar area of Srinagar city. The vast dumping site is present near Goenka private school. 

    “Out of 30 feet road, 10 feet are occupied by garbage. SMC sanitation workers along with vehicles emerge on daily basis at 9 in the morning, block the road as a result not only school buses, but vehicles ferrying employees too get stuck,” a local resident told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

  Parents of school kids had repeatedly requested to stop the morning-time lifting of solid waste, but the unhealthy practice continues leading to chaos and massive traffic jam.

  “It is a nightmare to drive on Sadarbal-Lal Bazar road during morning hours due to the callous attitude of SMC workers. Trucks and JCB used to lift the waste virtually block the road for hours,” said a shopkeeper.

  People appealed to SMC authorities to get the waste life during pre-dawn hours.

   “Here all departments know how to add to the hardships of people. No one has priority to reduce the people’s sufferings,” said a local adding that it is a daily routine, which causes a great nuisance to people. [KNT]
