SRINAGAR: Police and army on Monday recovered an old rusted shell near primary school Narol in Mendhar Sector in Poonch district, officials said. 

They told GNS a villager of  Noral spotted the shell and  telephonically informed Police Station Mendhar about it. Immediately, they said, a police party rushed to the spot while army was also informed to destroy the shell. Subsequently, the shell was recovered, they added. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A rusted mortar shell was found during construction in the Surankote area of Poonch district, officials said.

They said that the shell was found near Gurudwara Surankote  and subsequently army  and Police Surankote rushed to the spot.

The shell was later taken away from residential areas by Army’s BDS and destroyed near Suran river, they added.
A police officer confirmed it to GNS and said that a case has been registered in this regard. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A youth was killed, while another was injured on Friday after a mortar shell exploded in Samba district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that one youth namely Pawan Singh (19) son of Kuldeep Singh resident of village Chandli  died and another youth Roshan Singh ( 29) son of Kaka Singh resident of village Chandli sustained splinter injuries when Mortar shell they were reportedly fiddling with exploded in the forest area of village Chandli in the J/D of PP Goran ,PS Samba today around 5:00 p.m. Injured referred to GMC Jammu.

Meanwhile a case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: An unexploded mortar shell was found in the Arina sector of Jammu division on Tuesday.

Sources told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that an unexplored morter shell of 81 mm was found in the Arina sector, which was buried in the soil. Sources said that it is being speculated that this shell might have been lying here during the recent ceasefire violation.

Meanwhile, police took cognizance of this incident. Pertinently, on Monday evening, an 84-mm rusted mortal shell was recovered in Samba district.(KS)

SRINAGAR: A rusted mortar shell was detected and subsequently destroyed in a controlled explosion in Rajouri district on Monday, officials said.

Reliable sources told news agency Kashmir Scroll that mortar shell was noticed by a local in Nowshera area of Rajouri who accordingly informed police.

They said the area was immediately cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad was summoned which later destroyed the mortar shell in a controlled mechanism without causing any damage.(KS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Friday recovered an old rusted mortar shell in Poonch and destroyed it without any damage, officials said. 

They told GNS that the shell was found during construction at Gali area of Sawjian in Mandi area of Poonch. Soon after being informed, they said, a police party rushed to spot and later destroyed it without any damage to life or property. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A rusted motor shell was found in RS Pora area of Jammu on Tuesday following which it was defused.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir Scroll that locals informed about the rusted shell in Suchetgarh area of Jammu.

They said that accordingly police rushed to the spot along bomb disposal squad and defused the shell. Further investigation in this regard has been taken up. (KS)

SRINAGAR: Security forces on Friday afternoon recovered an old rusted shell from a well in a Tekipora village in Sogam in Kupwara district, officials said.

They told GNS that a shell was found in a well of Abdul Jabbar Naikoo at Baghatpora village in Tekipora Sogam by labourers while cleaning the water source. 

"A joint team of 28 RR and SOG reached the site and recovered the shell, followed which it (explosive) was destroyed without causing any damage", they further said. (GNS)
