SRINAGAR: At least eight persons were injured after two vehicles faced a head-on collision in Bramri area in Kupwara district this afternoon.

An official told GNS that an Eco vehicle bearing  number JK09C 3081 and a Tata Sumo bearing number JK09 1114 collided head on at Maidanpora Bramri, leaving eight persons injured.

The injured persons were evacuated SDH Kupwara with a minor girl with critical injuries taken to District Hospital Handwara.

SRINAGAR: An alleged gangster was killed while a police official sustained injuries in a shootout at Government Medical College Kathua last night. 

As learnt by GNS, police and a group of alleged gangsters exchanged fire at about 10:35 PM last night at Government Medical College premises in Kathua, resulting in the killing of a 'gangster' and injury of a PSI Deepak Sharma. 

The injured PSI was admitted in a nearby hospital for treatment, whose current condition couldn't be however ascertained. 

The circumstances leading to the incident however remain shrouded in mystery as no significant information could be made available regarding the face-off between the police and alleged gangsters. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Atleast 11 people including a 5-year-old girl were injured when a matador vehicle they were traveling in met with an accident in Poonch district on Thursday, officials said.

They said that the matadoor  (JK12-1063) skidded off the road near Mangna, resulting in injuries to 11 people who were shifted to hospital.

 They have been identified as Mohd Aslam S/o Hakam Din, Harjit Singh, Abdul Majid S/o Mohd Din,Narinder Kumar  S/o Kashi Ram, Nazir Hussain, Nusrat Naiz, 5, Rakhia Begam, Ruksana Kouser, Rashid Ahmad,  Neram Kumar S/o Heam Raj and Deepanshu  Kumar  S/o Narinder Kumar, all residents Mangnar.

 Confirming it,  a police official told GNS that the injured have been shifted to District Hospital Poonch. He said a case has been registered and further investigations taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: At least two firefighters have received injuries in a fire mishap in Bohri Kadal locality in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. 

An official told GNS that following the reporting of the incident, involving three single-storeyed shops, men and machinery from the Fire and Emergency Services Department reached the site to put out the flames. 

"During the rescue operation, two firefighters identified as Mudasir Ahmad and Robinder Sing have received burn injuries and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," the official said. 

The official in the meantime maintained that the fire has been controlled. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A pack of stray dogs attack in North Kashmir's Handwara has left at least two dozen people injured over the past three days, including women.

According to officials, one victim is critically injured and has been referred to Srinagar hospital for further treatment, while  others are receiving medical attention at the district hospital Handwara.

Locals witnessed dogs at the Handwara police station gate viciously attacking a man, causing serious injuries. This marks the fourth incident of such attack in the area.

Earlier, occurrences on Saturday and Monday resulted in around two dozen people being injured, instilling a sense of fear and terror among the residents of Handwara.

The escalating danger has prompted school-going children and students to halt their routine movements to school and markets. Concerned citizens are appealing to the authorities to take immediate action to either capture or eliminate the aggressive stray dog, citing the urgent need to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. SRINAGAR: At least three people sustained critical injuries after lightning struck the Shahdara Shareef area in Rajouri district Wednesday afternoon.

An official said that three individuals, namely Ghulam Ahmad (48), Naureen Akhtar (42), and Rozia Akhtar (2), suffered critical injuries in the incident.

All three were transferred to PHC Thanamandi and subsequently referred to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment. (KS)

SRINAGAR: In a distressing incident Sunday afternoon, a woman named Gulshan Begum, 45, wife of Mohd Jamal Mochi, residing in Mochi Mohalla, Magam was grievously injured in a bear attack while she was gathering wild mushrooms in the nearby forests.

As per sources, Begum sustained severe injuries during the encounter with a black bear. Prompt action was taken by witnesses who rushed her to PHC Magam for immediate medical assistance. Subsequently, she was referred to GMC Handwara for further treatment.

Doctors at District Hospital Handwara confirmed the identity of the injured as Gulshan Begum and highlighted the severity of her condition. They further informed that she has been referred to SMHS Srinagar for advanced medical care.

The Wildlife Department emphasizing the importance of exercising caution while venturing into such environments, particularly where wildlife may pose a risk, said, "We urge everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions when exploring forested regions."

"Beware of your surroundings and avoid disturbing or provoking wildlife."

SRINAGAR:  Four persons were killed and three others sustained injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off a road in Ramban district on Monday morning.

Reports reaching GNS said that a sumo vehicle on way from Maligam to Ukhrall skidded off the road near Maligam due to slippery conditions, resulting in on spot death of four persons and injuries to three others.

A rescue operation was instantly launched by police with the help of locals, during which the bodies were recovered and the injured persons evacuated to PHC Ukhral for immediate treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Wahid Bali, Anaytullah, Mohammad Ayoub Bali, and driver Sajjad Ahmad—all residents of Pogal.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed and as many others were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Reasi district on Tuesday.

A police official told GNS that a van (JK20A- 8411) was travelling from Reasi to Thub when it skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Thub village.

The accident, they said, took place at around 1800 hours and two persons namely Rashpal Singh son of Munshi Ram and Ganesh Singh son of Baldev Singh, both residents of Thub died on the spot and two others persons namely Raj Singh son Baldev Singh and Sanjay son of Munshi Ram were injured who were shifted to District Hospital Reasi for treatment in this regards. 

A senior police officer confirmed to GNS the death of two persons and injuries to as many others. He said that a case has been registered and further investigation taken up. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: A fire engine on Tuesday morning turned turtle while it was on its way to douse flames broken out in a residential house in Wagoora area, an official said on Tuesday. 

An official told GNS that an information was received at F&ES Station in Kreeri on intervening Monday and Tuesday night, regarding outbreak of an fire in residential house of one Manzoor Ahmad in Durhama Wagoora. Responding to the call, the station deputed a fire engine to the site, which however due to slippery conditions turned turtle on reaching Kreeri, leaving five on board with injuries. 

"Among the injured include an LFM (Leading Fireman), three firefighters and the driver," the official said. 

The injured have been identified as Abdul Hamid Lone (LFM), Mohammad Abdullah (SgCt), Mohammad Ashraf (Mechanical Driver), Showkat Ahmad (Fireman) and Azhar Din (Fireman). 

 Confirming the incident, an F&ES Department official told GNS that two separate fire engines were sent to the site to control the fire. 

There isn't much to worry about as all the injured F&ES men are out of danger even as the fire is also controlled at the site without much damage. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two persons, injured in a road accident in Baramulla's Uri, have succumbed to their injuries, taking the death count to 10.

Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr Ruby told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two more injured persons succumbed to their injuries late last night. 

She said that they were referred to SKIMS Soura last night, where they succumbed to their injuries 

They have been identified as Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Gani and Shabir Ahmed son of Mohammed Abdullah--both residents of Bujithallan.

Eight persons were killed, while seven were injured after a vehicle skidded off and fell into a deep gorge in Baramulla's Boniyar on Wednesday evening. (KNO)

SRINAGAR: At least nine passengers were hospitalized with injuries after a vehicle they were on board fell from a cliff at Manjakote area in Rajouri, officials said on Saturday evening.

They told GNS that a Matador vehicle bearing registration number JK11 5057, fell from a cliff at Guglinar, Kakora in Manjakote. 

In the incident, they said, nine on board passengers identified as Gul Hussain (70) son of Feroz Di, Mohammad Waseem (26) son of Mohammad Razzaq, Khadim Hussain (65) son of Abdul Khan, Rukhsana Kouser (25) wife of Mohammad Younis, Zaifan (5) son of Mohammad Younis, Mohammad Shabir (28) son of Gul Hussain, Abid Hussain (11) son of Mohammad Naseer, Sobia Kauser (20) daughter of Mushtaq Hussain - all residents of Guglinar Kakora and Kulzam Begum wife of Mohammad Rafiq of Tandwal, sustained injuries.

"All the injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital", the official added.

Meanwhile a police official has also confirmed to GNS about the incident. "Cognisance has been taken for investigations", the official added. (GNS)
