SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police alongside security forces arrested four associates linked with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit here on Saturday evening. 

“Acting on a specific information, a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) comprising of Srinagar Police, 50 RR, Valley QRT and 29Bn CRPF was established in Kenihama area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nowgam in the evening hours, today,” reads a statement issued to GNS.

“During checking, a white Alto vehicle was intercepted by the joint party. Four militant associates identified as Md Yaseen Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Sheraz Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rashid Rather, Gulam Hassan Khandey son of Gulam Mohd khandey, all from Lcchnambal Zafran Colony Panthachowk and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat son of Late Abdul Ganie Bhat resident of Frestabal Pampore who were boarding the vehicle were apprehended.”

“Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK 56 rifle with 3 Magazines, 75 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm, 01 Glock Pistol with 2 Magazines, 26 Rounds of 9 mm and 06 Chinese grenades were recovered from their possession. During preliminary investigation, it was found that the apprehended individuals were linked with the proscribed militant outfit JeM,” reads  the statement. 

“In this regard, a case FiR No.31/2024 under section 18, 23, 39 UAPA, 7/25 Arms Act and 120b of the IPC has been registered in Police Station Nowgam and further investigation is in progress,” the statement reads further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested a militant associate and recovered from his possession ammunition and other incriminating material in Baramulla district. 

“Police alongwith security forces arrested militant  associate linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials, ammunition from his possession in Baramulla,” reads a statement issued to GNS.

“On a specific input of terrorist movement in Pattan area, a joint Naka was established at Chinar Crossing Pattan by Baramulla Police, 2nd Bn SSB &  Army 29  RR.”

“During naka checking suspicious movement of one person coming towards naka point by foot was observed. While seeing police party and security forces, the suspect person tried to flee from the spot but alert naka party apprehended him tactfully,” reads the statement.

During preliminary questioning, the statement said the arrestee was identified as Mehraj ud din Bhat son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat resident of Mundyari Pattan.

“During his search one live hand grenade was recovered from his possession.”

“In this regard, case under sections UA (P) & Arms Act has been registered in PS Pattan and investigation has been taken up,” reads the statement further. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Monday said that it attached the residential house of a militant associate in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that today, it attached the residential house of a terrorist associate namely Mohammad Ramzan Mir S/O Ab. Salam Mir R/O Rudbugh Magam who is an OGW of the proscribed militant outfit LeT.  Pertinently during investigation of FIR No. 05/2023 U/S, 307-IPC 7/27 Arms Act 16, 19, 20, 23, 39 UA (P) Act of P/S Magam  Unlawful Activities Prevention Act it had come to fore that the property under survey No.68 min belonging  to Mohammad Ramzan Mir resident of Radbugh Magam had been acquired as proceeds of terrorism in terms of 2(g) of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, which was  also willfully used for  harbouring of militants, he said.

The police spokesman further stated that district Police Budgam has reiterated its resolve to continue its endeavour for identification and initiation of legal actions against all such properties that are being wilfully used for harbouring militants, reads the statement

SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a militant hybrid along with arms and ammunition in North Kashmir's Bandipora.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that on 25th of August, based on a specific input generated by J&K police about the movement of a hybrid militant, a checkpoint was established by the joint party in Dardgund area, jurisdiction of PS Pethkoot. At the checkpoint, a suspicious person who on noticing the joint party tried to flee but he was apprehended tactfully. On search, 01 pistol, 01 pistol magazine, 8 rounds & other incriminating material were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shafayat Zubair Rishi of Nesbal Sumbal.

The police spokesman further stated that during questioning, the accused disclosed that he was on way to collect a cache of arms & ammunition from a lady identified as Munira Begum wife of killed terrorist & area commander Yousuf Choupan in Pazalpora area.

Pertinently, the accused was in touch with Pak based terror handler Mushtaq Ahmad Mir who exfiltrated to Pak in 1999 and was working on revival of terrorists in the district.  He was also involved in the year 2000 Kothibagh IED blast in which 14 people including 12 police personnel were killed & had remained associated with proscribed miitant outfit HM and later on with militant outfit Al-badr. Shafayat Zubair Rishi is also involved in burning an Army vehicle in Sumbal in 2009 and is out on bail in the said case, he said.

Furthermore, on the disclosure of Munira Begum, cache of arms & ammunition including 01 Krinkov AK-47 rifle, 03 magazines, 90 rounds and 01 pen pistol that was to be delivered to Shafait Reshi was recovered from the nearby forest area. During questioning, it also figured that Munira has also gone to Pak twice, he said.

Moreover, Shafayat Rishi also admitted that he was about to receive 47 lakhs for the revival of terrorists. Later, this money was to be handed over to someone as per the requirement & directions of his across handler Mushtaq Ah Mir, he said.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is under process, reads the statement.(GNS)

SRINAGAR: A joint team of security forces arrested a militant associate affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit in Nazninpura village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday evening.

They told GNS that a joint team of Shopian Police, Army’s 44 RR and 14 Battalion CRPF tactfully arrested a militant associate namely Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, resident of Nazninpura Shopian in his native village.

“On disclosure of the arrestee, the joint team recovered arms and ammunition which included one each of 40 mm Pak origin RPG, RPG grenade and two Boosters”, they said.

“A case vide FIR number 146/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation set into motion”, they further said. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday said that continuing its crackdown on harbouring militants & providing logistic support to them, State Investigation Unit Shopian attached the residential house of Lashkar-i-Toiba militant Subhanpora Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that its SIU Shopian under the close supervision of DIG SIU Kashmir, SSP Shopian, DySP CIO SIU Shopian attached the residential house of a militantt associate in Subhanpora Bijbhera area of Anantnag district, after obtaining necessary sanctions from competent authority.

According to police spokesman, during the course of investigation in case FIR No. 22/2022 of Police Station Zainpora Shopian, under UA(P) Act, a residential house of Abdul Rehman Ganai son of Mohammad Shaban Ganai father of militant associate Zubair Ahmad Ganai resident of Subhanpora Bijbhera has been found used by militants of proscribed militant outfit LeT.

Accordingly, process for attachment of property belonging to the above accused falling within the ambit proceeds of militancy was initiated by SIU Shopian under section 25 of UA(P) Act, he said.

The general public is once again advised to not harbour or provide shelter or extend logistics to militants and their associates in their houses or premisses, reads the statement. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit associates were arrested alongwith arms and ammunition during a naka checking at Warpora in Kreeri Baramulla, officials said on Thursday morning. 

They told GNS that during a naka checking, jointly manned by SOG, army and SSB, two persons moving suspiciously were apprehended. "Upon their frisking the team recovered from their possession arms and ammunition which included two pistols, two pistol magazines and 15 live rounds", they said. 

Identifying the apprehended duo as Suhail Gulzar and Waseem Ahmad Parra, the officials said that both of them are associates of militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba. 

A senior police officer has in the meantime also confirmed to GNS about the detention of the duo, saying they have been taken into custody for questioning. (GNS)

SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a militant associates along with a hand grenade of Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that on a specific information regarding movement of militants in village Nagbal Chandoosa, a joint MVCP was established by Police & Army (52RR) at Shranz Crossing Nagbal Chandoosa. During checking, one suspected person who was coming from Shrunz towards Nagbal Chandoosa tried to flee after noticing joint naka party but was apprehended tactfully.

The spokesman further stated that during search, one grenade was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Ashraf Mir, son of Mohd Shafi Mir, a resident of Laridoora Chandoosa, a militant associate linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT.

It is pertinent to mention here that the said terrorist associate is a surrendered militant, he said.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections law has been registered at Police Station Chandoosa and investigation has been initiated, reads the statement. (GNS)
