Mumbai, June 18: In a remarkable gathering of legends and emerging talent, several of India’s top tennis cricket players visited the E11 Bash office in Mumbai on Saturday.

The league also announced that E11 Bash will be coming to Kashmir for player trials from July 27 to 29, as part of its nationwide talent hunt.

 The event brought together iconic names like Krishna Satpute, popularly hailed as the God of Tennis Cricket" Sir Gopal Bata, the pride of Konkan, and rising international prospect Darshan Bandekar, alongside prominent players Babal Naik, Akshay Ghatval, Samir Vengurlekar, Jaydev Keluskar, and Sohail Shaikh.

The E11 Bash team warmly felicitated the athletes, with a large crowd of enthusiastic fans gathering for the opportunity to meet and interact with their heroes. The players expressed appreciation for the E11 Bash initiative and extended their best wishes for the success of the league.

Speaking on the occasion, owners of E11 Bash Neeraj Dhir and Feroze Peerzada described league as an "electrifying tennis ball cricket league that redefines fast-paced action with its unique 11-over format." The league features 10 dynamic men’s and women’s teams, promising high-octane cricket entertainment from the first ball.

In an effort to discover and nurture tennis cricket talent, the league will conduct nationwide trials starting June 28 in Thane, followed by selections across major Indian cities including Srinagar City

Founders Col. N.P. Singh (USA) and Sunil Mathew (Dubai), who are also partners with Conor McGregor in the World League of Fighters (WLF), joined the event virtually and thanked the players for their visit and encouraging words.

Srinagar, May 9: In light of the prevailing situation, the Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has issued a directive asking all faculty members currently on leavem, except those on maternity or medical leave to report back to duty without delay.

The directive, which applies to all teaching staff of GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals, emphasizes the need for full staffing to ensure uninterrupted medical services.

Domestically, the challenge has drawn entries from diverse and remote locations across India, including Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), Dimapur (Nagaland), Kargil (Ladakh), Leh, Shopian (Kashmir), Port Blair (Andaman & Nicobar Islands), Teliamora (Tripura), Kasaragod (Kerala) and Gangtok (Sikkim). The strong response to WAVES’ “Reel Making” challenge from smaller towns and emerging creative hubs reflects India's rich storytelling traditions and growing digital creator ecosystem.

As part of the challenge, participants above the age of 20 are required to create reels on themes such as "Viksit Bharat", highlighting India's existing technological and infrastructure advancements, and "India @ 2047", envisioning the nation’s future growth in these sectors. These themes provide a platform for storytellers to present India’s innovation journey through concise 30-60 second films, showcasing their creativity and vision for the country's progress.

The winners of the Reel Making challenge will receive exclusive opportunities, including:

Srinagar, Feb 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has credited its recent success to a transparent and merit-based selection process, ensuring a corruption-free and nepotism-free environment for players.

Brigadier Anil Gupta (retd), a key member of the BCCI-appointed committee overseeing J&K cricket told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that transparency in selection, confidence in players, giving them the best of facilities, good coaches, enough match practice, pre-tournament matches, and the belief that they can win is what has made the change this season.

 He further emphasized the role of unity and motivation in the dressing room. "The team is motivated, the players are mentally tough, the dressing room is cordial, and the players are enjoying. There is a good bonhomie in the group, and that is what makes the difference."

He further stated that one of the major reforms initiated by the JKCA was ending regional favouritism in selections. "We set the process in motion. One of the main things was the selection process—we made it very transparent, and we ensured that the best get selected, with no favouritism or regionalism. J&K cricket was marred with regionalism, so we stopped that." 

 Notably, Jammu Kashmir defeated Mumbai and Baroda to qualify for their first Ranji Trophy quarter-final in five years. [KNT]

SRINAGAR: Ahead of 'Dunki' scheduled for December 21, Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan on Tuesday offered prayers at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine situated in Trikuta Hills of Katra town in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Shrine Board official said that the King Khan reached Katra and left for the Bhawan.

He offered special prayers at the cave shrine ahead of his upcoming film 'Dunki'.

Raj Kumar Hirani directed 120 crore budget 'Dunki' is releasing worldwide on December 21.

Earlier also at the time release of 'Pathan' and 'Jawan', Shahrukh Khan offered prayers at the cave shrine. (UNI)

SRINAGAR: In an endeavour to put Srinagar City on the Map of International Film Festival Circuit and to pay a special tribute to the legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand on his 100th  birth anniversary, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today threw open the “International Film Festival of Srinagar” (TIFFS) here at Tagore Hall.

The “International Film Festival of Srinagar” (TIFFS) organised by RIFK Entertainment in association with Vomedh, a cultural organization, will take place at Tagore Hall over the course of two days, on October 25 and October 26, 2023 in which over 200 films from 37 countries have been submitted, culminating in a selection of 17 outstanding films including Feature Films, Short films and Documentaries for two-day screening.

Addressing the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the organisers for holding “International Film Festival of Srinagar” and also qualifying entries in the festival. He hoped that such initiatives provide a platform to local youth to learn the film concepts and art of acting, direction, production thereby tempting them to showcase their cinematic talent at national and international levels.

Recalling the deep rooted connections of Bollywood with Kashmir, the DC said Bollywood, Kashmir and Cinema have a very strong relation made by nature and cannot be separated. He said Kashmir has remained a production house for Bollywood and people of the valley are largely associated with the films.

The DC said Cinema has also played a major role in promoting tourism by familiarising the viewers with a large number of scenic and culturally rich locations of Kashmir valley.  He also said that the films unleash the extraordinary power of human that helps him in shaping the career. 

The DC also underlined the significance of Film Policy launched by the J&K Government to create a vibrant film ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir. He said by adopting Film Policy -2021 grant of permissions for the production houses for film making in J&K has been made incentivized, simple and hassle free through a single-window mechanism.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also released the brochure titled “The International Film Festival’ of Srinagar(TIFFS)”.

The inaugural ceremony of 2nd edition of “The International Film Festival’ of Srinagar(TIFFS) began with the festive appearance with both artists and the general people particularly in presence of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Bollywood Producer Director, B Subhash, Festival Director TIFFS, Rohit Bhat, Advisor Vomedh, Sanjay Saraf, Bharat Bushan Bhat and galaxy of Art and Cinema loving people.

Srinagar, Jan 25:-The Shah Rukh Khan starrer film “Pathaan” opened to a packed house at INOX Srinagar.
The multiplex INOX witnessed all the shows with full capacity on the first day of its release of Shah Rukh Khan , Deepika Padukone-starrer “Pathaan” on Wednesday.
“All the first four shows went with full capacity and we are expecting that evening show would also be with the same capacity”, an official of the INOX said.
He said that the people have shown a great response towards “Pathaan” on the first day of its all over release and it was full house for the first four shows.
He said the cinema earlier also witnessed house full shows for Drishyam 2 and Avatar but this is for the first time since the cinema opened in Srinagar on September 20, 2022 that all the shows of the first day of film “Pathaan”are capacity packing.
He said the most beautiful thing is that this is the first film on silver screen of Bollywood budshah Shah Rukh Khan being shown in Srinagar cinema. He said the mega star has a good fan following here and is popular among the Kashmiri people.
The official said hopefully the response of the people towards the film would remain the same and we are expecting the film will witness full house full capacity in coming days also.
